Just walked out of there. Sitting waiting for an hour for two burgers and fries. No the place was not crowded. Walked in sat down at 12pm. 12:45 woman looks at us finally and says oh it’s coming right out. This is after 5 take out orders and all the diners inside are with food. The couple behind us ordered right before we did ate, paid and was out the door before we got our food. I asked another person how long she comes back and say they putting “it’s still on the grill then the final touches”. The final touches on a burger? 10 more minutes go by, enough. If you forgot to put our order in say that. Don’t have us sitting there and you don’t acknowledge us at all. Until that was the toughest beef in America a burger wouldn’t take that long nor would dropping fries in hot oil. 12:55 out the door with just two sips of Diet Coke.

Village Diner is a nice place of you wanna grab a bite to eat. The salad was nasty well the ranch dressing wasn’t it at all. The steak was amazing. I did ask for well done and it came out medium well. It was okay tho it was more well than medium. The mash potatoes were normal potatoes nothing to write home about. The broccoli was amazing. Seasoned well and nice and firm as they should be.

My family and I had a very upsetting experience at Village Diner. We waited for almost two hours and were never served, even though customers who came in after us received their food quickly. We were some of the only Black people in the restaurant, and it gave us the feeling that we may have been treated differently because of the color of our skin. No family should feel ignored or disrespected while simply trying to enjoy a meal together. Businesses should treat every customer fairly and equally. Based on this experience, I would not recommend going there.

This place is AMAZING! The other day I got, Village Diner (South Orange), for breakfast. I ordered their; Turkey Sausage, Home Fries w/ Grilled Onions, and 2 Eggs Fried Hard w/ Cheese. With a complimentary Ruby Red Grapefruit juice to wash it down. Presentation to quality of ingredients, accompanied by their wonderful customer service was phenomenal. Have been going here for a long time, but I never experienced their breakfast items. It was such a treat! I’d highly recommend, Village Diner (South Orange), to anyone in the SO/Maplewood area looking for quality food, any time of the day. They are always great!

I’ve ordered from this restaurant a few times in the past with no problem. But I’m not pleased with my order today at all. I called and spoke to the manager, who really was not very helpful at all. Other than to tell me how sorry he was. I don’t really care how sorry you are when I’m spending my money for food. I placed an order via Grubhub. They ask you if you have any additional information to add which I did. I asked that there be no coleslaw added. Yet there it was in my order. I don’t like mayo, I don’t like coleslaw. The
containers often open and then your other food is soaked in mayonnaise and it’s disgusting. Also, I selected well done for my burger and it clearly is not. The meat is still red/pink inside and inedible. In order for me to eat this, I would need to continue cooking it. If I wanted to cook myself, I wouldn’t have ordered from a restaurant. I explained this to the manager as well. Only to again be told how sorry he was that they did not pay attention. That’s not my problem, but they made it my problem by not cooking my food properly. I will be going back there tomorrow morning and I’m taking this raw burger back!!!

Absolutely fantastic if what you want is a tasty plate of chicken pasta so big you’ll be eating leftovers for two days. That almost sounds backhanded, so let me clarify: I want that.
