A few years ago, my friend Guillermo and I stumbled upon Machupicchu ll Restaurant in Providecene, RI and had, in my opinion, one of the best meals of my life- it’s where I fell in love with Ceviche.

Well, we always said we would go back but commitments got in the way and we never did, until today! While we were traveling about for work, we happened to be in the area and finally went again (and by “area”, I mean an hour, but hey, we were heading from Acton to Blackstone, and it was not THAT far away?).

I am happy to report it was just as good as the last time! Pictured is their Cerviche Trio), which had way more than three things) and the Parrilla Machu Picchu, which was a sharable meal of grilled offal, sirloin steak with potatoes and corn everything is dressed in a house-made aji panca marinade.

Our waitress, I forgot to get her name, was awesome!!!! She did express concern that these newbies to Peruvian opted for the menu item containting heart (she thumped her chest as she said this) to make sure we knew what we were ordering, which I thought was so nice. But yeah, if you never try something, how will you know if you like it?

So, for the first time, I ate grilled heart and stomach and loved every bite!

BTW, I didn’t have my glasses on and thought the stuffed Alpaca (or maybe it was a llama) was named Oscar and he is feisty. Don’t mess with Oscar!!

If you’re looking for authentic Peruvian food that hits the spot every time, Machupicchu is it. This place is truly a hidden gem—it’s unassuming from the outside but packed with flavor inside.

I always go for their lomo saltado, and it never disappoints. It’s a hearty and flavorful plate of steak, onions, and peppers, seasoned to perfection and served with soft sweet plantains, crispy French fries, two poached eggs, and a side of rice. The flavors all come together so well—it’s a solid 9/10 for me, and the generous portion makes it even better.

Their sweet plantains add a beautiful contrast to the savory elements of the dish. I also love their crispy regular plantains—8/10 for those alone! Don’t skip their house sauces either: the yellow Peruvian sauce adds a rich layer of flavor, and the orange spicy sauce brings the perfect kick if you like a little heat.

The steak in the lomo saltado is good, though I think the cut could be slightly better quality. That said, it doesn’t take away from how delicious and satisfying the whole dish is.

Staff are consistently friendly and welcoming. I’d rate customer service an 8/10—nothing fancy, but solid and genuine. It does get pretty busy, especially on weekends, so plan accordingly or call ahead if you can.

The best part? The prices are super reasonable considering how much food you get. You leave full and happy without breaking the bank.

Highly recommend Machupicchu if you’re looking for real, homestyle Peruvian food in Providence. It’s truly one of those local spots that deserves more attention.

Can’t speak much about the Atmosphere since all I’ve ever done is pick up. When I lived in RI I was in search for good Peruvian food and this is one of my top 2 restaurants. Good flavor and portions. Favorite plate is Bistec a la pobre. Must try if you are in Rhode Island.

I married into an amazing Peruvian family who loves their culture and food. Twelve family members and I met for lunch here to celebrate my brother in law’s birthday. The food was okay but missing some spices and herbs that make Peruvian food so special and delicious. The ceviche was too acidic and the Lomo Saltado with fish was lacking flavor. It was missing a bit of soy sauce and cilantro. The Pollo a la Brasa was good as well as the Chaufa and many raved about the fries and the Causa with tuna. The service was amazing but unfortunately we would most likely not return. There are other Peruvian restaurants that are at another level.

Normally we never minded, but recently since 2025
It has been terrible!
SERVICE and QUANTITY for price!

I walked in got stared at by maybe 5 different employees. 2 of them which I am ASSUMING maybe management because they had casual attire going in and out back, compared to other employees with matching attire ( if they were managment they looked the most confused)

But I was NOT greeted by 1
NO …
“Hi welcome”
“someone will be right with you”
“has anyone checked in with you”

Terrible I was looked at for about 10minuted until someone finally asked me what brought me

I used to order here all the time especially pregnant but service has gotten so bad.

QUALITY – Taste the same really good…portions are smaller and cost double what it use to. Not worth the $30 per plate especially with bad customer service.

I understand price is going up everywhere, but your service needs so much work ! Starting at management I think.
They did not look busy either

service is always fast , servers are sweet & it’s so cozy inside one of my favorite places to stop in and grab a quick bite to eat , I always get the poor man’s lomo (with chicken instead of steak)with extra house sauce ! bang for your buck with how much food they give and how authentic it tastes straight out of a grandmas kitchen!

Ok so my husband was working with someone who ordered from here today. My husband got a plate too and brought it home for both of us to try. It was a roasted chicken and fries. Omg it was incredible and the greenish/yellowish sauce is amazing!!!!!! Well definitely be back!

Food portions were big, but delicious. Be ready to bring back some home. The Bistec Encebollado all pobre had everything I wanted and more. I would have preferred the sauces were provided in a squirter bottle or in some kind of sauce dish since our table quickly depleted the tiny single serve containers we were given. Both the yellow and the spicy paired well. Therefore, always ask for extra sauce.
