I came to eat at Ruta 16 Mariscos in Pasadena, (on Shaver St), and everything was amazing!
The food was delicious and fresh, the atmosphere was fun and welcoming, and the music really set the mood. The service was excellent — everyone was friendly and attentive. Definitely one of my new favorite spots for seafood in Pasadena! Highly recommend! ️

AVOID AT ALL COST! Nasty, Flavorless, Slimy and pricey.
I went here Saturday Dec 13 2025. I dont even know where to start this.
My wife and i got the “empanadas”
They were extremely saturated in grease, the filling is just bread stuffing and they call it like “shrimp or seafood “ empanadas. I opened one and took a small bite and it was horrible! I told the lady to take it back and even she admitted they looked bad. (Didn’t get it comped) but whatever I wasn’t going to argue.
Then we ordered some or they “popular “ ceviche. The Ruta 16 tower. TERRIBLE!!! 0 and i mean 0 flavor at all. You i took a couple bites or fish and scallops. They were slimy and nasty (still praying I dont get sick) the other 2 we ordered were just as bad. We didn’t eat it. I told the lady to get me the check. She asked why we didn’t eat it and i told her exactly what i felt and she said “yeah, the fish looks expired and nasty”
Again nothing was comped but whatever, i just wanted to leave out of there.
Paid about $110 for all that garbage. Here is a picture of the tower that i deconstructed.

We made reservations for about 30 people and more ended up showing up, the manager Johan was so lovely and attentive for everything!!! She was kind and so helpful with everything. The way the celebrate a birthday is so festive! The food was great, the piña colada was delicious and the service was good!

Ok, so a friend recommended this place, but first i went to read the reviews n was abit disappointed cuz most mention waitstaff but not dining-atmosphere-experience etc….but after coming here, it’s clear, the staff seem to have some kinda special training to be so polite n polished with the treatment of the patrons, tho we, my husband and I, seemed to be the only ones there, I overheard the waitstaff with the other guests, with whom they also treated with much class…. now with that said, moving on to the food. My husband and I after ordering our drinks (michiladas that had ice kinda like sonic ice) we were greeted with a small portion of consome but was it was really a delight, we ordered appetizers aguachile,n those were very fresh n yummy, we had the caldo and molcajete n left STUFFED! The prices were a lil bit high but very fair for the serving size…We will definitely be returning!

Great service and amazing food at Ruta 16! Despite not being busy, the staff welcomed us with warm caldo de mariscos, which was a delicious start. The mojarra frita was cooked perfectly, and my tacos gobernador were spot on. The molcajete bañado was drenched in a fantastic salsa, and the shrimp were flavorful. Can’t wait to go back and try more menu items! “

We tried 2 different appetizers, empanadas and calamari. Both were good, definitely recommend them. Ordered camarones mojo de ajo, and brochete mixto for the entre. Not desipointing at all!! Waitress brought a sample of the soup, definitely returning to try that next! Jackelyn was a great waitress and was on top of our order and drinks.
