An absolute gem in Lexington! Blue Heron Steakhouse delivers not just a meal, but a full-on experience. From the moment you walk in, the original rustic style and ambient lighting set the stage for something special. The atmosphere is warm, intimate, and effortlessly classy.

Huge shoutout to our server Carlo—he was absolutely awesome. Friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about making sure everyone has a great time.

The meal? Flawless. We started with the baked brie, which was creamy, rich, and just decadent enough to make you feel fancy without trying too hard. The oysters—sourced from the West Coast (excellent call by the owner)—were briny, fresh, and beautifully plated.

Then came the porterhouse steak. Perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and served with reverence. The kitchen gets it.

And let’s talk dessert: I’m not usually a carrot cake person, but this one? Just what the doctor ordered. Moist, spiced just right, and a perfect ending to a perfect meal. The cheesecake was also a hit—not overly sweet, but silky and balanced.

This is definitely the kind of place you come back to. Whether it’s a special celebration or just a random Tuesday in need of magic, Blue Heron nails it every time.

Carlo our waiter was great, food was good and spaced out nicely between appetizers and entrees. My daughter had the fried chicken which was very good and I had the cowboy steak. I will come back.

The Blue Heron Steakhouse offers a dining experience that effortlessly combines intimacy, exceptional cuisine, and impeccable service. From the moment you step inside, the warm, welcoming atmosphere invites you to relax and savor a meal in a space that feels more like a personal dining room than a bustling restaurant. With its small, cozy environment, The Blue Heron creates the perfect setting for an unforgettable meal.

One standout dish that sets the tone for the culinary journey is the Grilled Brie appetizer. This perfectly executed starter marries creamy, melted Brie with a delightful crunch from toasted walnuts, all elevated by the rich sweetness of an excellent fig jam. The balance of flavors is impeccable—each bite offers a harmonious interplay of texture and taste that leaves you eager for the next course.

The main attraction, however, is the extraordinary filet. Cooked to absolute perfection, this tender, flavorful cut of beef is a true testament to the chef’s skill. Accompanying sides are thoughtfully prepared to complement the steak without overwhelming it, striking a delightful balance that enhances the overall dining experience. Every bite feels like a masterclass in flavor coordination.

Adding to the experience is the service, which is attentive yet never intrusive. The staff strikes the perfect balance, ensuring your needs are met with a smile while allowing you to enjoy the meal and company at your leisure.

The Blue Heron Steakhouse is more than a meal—it’s an experience that lingers in your memory long after the last bite. With its exceptional food, intimate ambiance, and top-tier service, this gem is a must-visit for anyone seeking a truly elevated dining experience.

This was truly an awesome experience. Service, food, and drinks were top notch. Even parking was made easier with the parking assistant. We were treated like family. Dom personally came by to make sure our dining experience was delightful. The servers were all kind and offered helpful suggestions. We will absolutely come back and bring friends.

Once again back in KY, living in Cape Coral Florida for 2 years now.. wanted to take the family of (7) plus (2) babies out for a great dining experience and a great steak . I know Blue Heron wouldn’t disappoint and I was right. The young hostess was so courteous and personable. And the service that Tom provided was absolutely incredible. Such a personable person, courtesy friendly interacted with my granddaughter and made all of welcome. A great overall Experience… see you in another year..

It was our first time. It started with the parking, we parked in the provided lot. Then we’re told we couldn’t park there. We had to move twice! Very nice hostess and the server Tom was excellent. My wife had the tomahawk ribeye,I add the fish of the day the grouper. The cook on the ribeye was good but it was flavorless and tough. My grouper was small and overcooked. The best thing we had was appetizer crab cake. We had an old fashioned and a Manhattan and they were both good.

Most of the food was excellent. However, I was disappointed with one of the lamb dishes this time. I have gotten the dish in the past and have been very pleased. But this time the 2 chops were very small and didnt have much if any of the porterhouse side. One of the chops had a lot of gristle and was cooked less than medium-rare. I asked for it to be cooked a bit more, but it was still raw near the bone after the second cook up. Because of the gristle and the raw part near the bone, most of that chop was not edible. Since the dish only comes with two lamb chops, I expected the server to offer a replacement, but he did not. Anyway It is still one of my fav places to eat, but I do think they should fix a dish if its quality isnt what it should be.

I wanted a great place to celebrate my Babe’s 60th coming up this week. I’d heard the Blue Herring was fantastic. And it is.

David was our server and he was perfect. Relaxed, chill, but was always checking in to see what we needed.

David suggested that we, as non-natives, take a stroll up to the bar and discuss which local whiskey we might prefer with the expert, the bartender.

I got the Green River Rye. Had great flavor. Jeanne got the Four Roses.

The Baked Brie was a great starter. We recommend it.

Jeanne got the Tender Loin and I got the RibEye. The crust was perfect, seasoned with fantastic flavor, juicy and melted like butter.

Will recommend to anyone at the Horse Park who is undecided where to eat.

I don’t even like apple pie but helped Jeanne polish it off. It was really good. Warm with the ice cream and a crust cinnamonie and a hint of saltie here and there. Damn good pie.
