Within the last month, Sacred Grounds has had a change in ownership. For some that is sad news, but the good news is that the new owners so far have been keeping the same high quality service and products.

My recent visit was to take part of Javapalooza being sponsored by Rivers and Routes Tourism Bureau. When it’s warm outside, I enjoy my coffee iced. My go to is, Vanilla Honey Latte with whole milk. If you’re having a latte, why not go whole hog and enjoy that whole milk. The rich fullness of whole milk, adds to the flavor.

Looking at their pastry case, it was hard for me to choose. However, once my eyes saw the Pizza Scone, I wanted a savory treat over a sweet. The scone was full of flavor, but a little on the dry side. After a couple bites, the dryness did not bother me, because the flavor was so good.

Scared Grounds is located on the Main drag in downtown Edwardsville, so next time you’re in town, be sure to stop by.

We were driving back from St.Louis and wanted a quick coffee and muffin. We stopped in downtown Edwardsville to Sacred Grounds as it stated online they offer gluten free items.

This is a cute coffee house filled with local art serving breakfast and lunch items. Unfortunately it was a Monday and they did not have any gluten free items.

My wife just had a coffee which she said was very good and I had an Orange Creme muffin. Very fresh with pieces of fresh orange.

Definitely a cute place to try when in Edwardsville Illinois.

This is a very nice and delicious coffee shop! Arrive early for warm and tasty pastries. The bagel is amazing. I’m a big fan of the caramel latte! I really appreciate the service; it’s a wonderful local business.

A Hidden Gem Worth Checking Out!
This place completely blew me away. The food was not only delicious but also felt incredibly fresh and clean—like real, quality ingredients. They have an impressive variety of vegan and vegetarian options, all at budget-friendly prices, which makes it super accessible. What really stood out was the staff—they’re warm, friendly, and genuinely make you feel welcome, especially if you’re a first-time visitor.

If you’re an SIUE student, you’ll love the student discount, too! Whether you’re in town for a visit or just looking for a cozy spot to grab breakfast on the weekend, this place has that comfortable, homey vibe that’s hard to find. I’m already looking forward to coming back and exploring more of their menu. Highly recommend it—you won’t be disappointed!

Sacred Grounds is such a chill cafe with some decent food and coffee options! The inside, depending on when you go, offers quite the environment for a good study session —or just to meet up with some friends for some brunch. Their food tastes amazing, and their bakery grab and go items are made in house. Can even grab a box of Day-old pastries for a decent price!

My boyfriend and I visited for a late breakfast and got some food and coffee. Between 2 drinks and food, we somehow spent over $45 though. After leaving the counter, we were already -$60 after tip (I work in service, so I try to tip even in this situation). He got a sandwich and loved it, and I got a piece of avocado toast with bacon added (+$3 for 2 pieces of bacon). The coffee was pretty tasty, but we left feeling like we were still hungry. For some reason, the price just didn’t sit right with me, so unfortunately that’s where the star loss is on my review. Felt pretty overpriced for a small breakfast and coffee. I’d go back, but probably only for coffee.

Absolutely loved Sacred Grounds! Their fresh made muffins and scones were fantastic. The staff gave great service, and all seemed to really enjoy being there. 3 drip coffee options with one being flavored. The building has that historic vibe. A definite stop any time in Edwardsville.

The place? SO cute. The service? SO good! The lady was so nice. The iced vanilla latte? Was very basic. I was on maternity leave recently and I was giving myself something to do and every week I tried a new place to find the best iced vanilla latte in the area. The iced vanilla latte tasted like one I would make at home and I didn’t finish it. The coffee flavor is so yummy but they used Torani vanilla syrup and you can get that at like Walmart. I will be back to try something new or some food but I don’t really recommend the iced vanilla latte. I think a unique/homemade vanilla could go a long way. Also while looking at reviews to see if people agreed with me, the owner is very rude to some people who left reviews which is unusual. It seems they have cooled off or they have a new owner!

Biscuits and gravy were perfect (and huge)! Usually I’m reaching for the salt and pepper, but the flavor was exceptional as served. The eggs had a nice seasoning as well. We also had the two-egg breakfast and a bagel sandwich with coffee. Everything was delicious!

Atmosphere is great but menu has very limited vegetarian options. Was much better when I visited a year ago with more options and tastier food. Had the selected veggie sandwich. It was mostly bread with a slice of lettuce, and some tomato and onion pieces sprinkled on it.

What a GEM! The service is hands down the best I’ve had when out of town away from my own coffee spot! They made me feel welcomed, valued, and not crazy for checking out their amazing menu! From their bakery items, brunch hot items, to their pipping hot coffee….there’s is no better place to go in the morning when in Edwardsville!
