I chose Positano in Wheaton because I’ve always enjoyed the Oak Brook location and was curious to see how this one compared.

The Wheaton space feels more modern, though it lacks some of the warmth and charm I associate with Oak Brook. It was very busy and louder than I prefer, which made the experience feel a bit less intimate. That said, the bar area is inviting, and I can definitely see myself stopping in for a drink and a small bite.

Service didn’t quite have the friendliness and polish I’m used to at the other location. It wasn’t bad, just missing that extra touch that makes you feel truly welcomed.

The food, however, delivered. The linguini vongole was perfectly al dente with a generous portion of clams, and the homemade meatballs over creamy polenta were a standout appetizer. They craft a solid Negroni, though the Old Fashioned could use a bit more attention.

Overall, it’s a good option in town, and I may return. But with strong competition nearby, it has to work just a little harder to rise to the top. ✨

We chose to celebrate Valentine’s Day at Positano Italian Restaurant, and we’re so glad we did. From the moment we stepped in the door, the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed. Service was incredible throughout the evening—attentive waiters, thoughtful staff, and the manager even stopped by our table to make sure everything was to our liking. It created such a warm, inviting atmosphere.

The ambience was exactly what we were hoping for: romantic, elegant, and classy without feeling too formal.

The food was outstanding!!!!!! We shared a lobster and shrimp pasta in a white sauce and the Steak Vesuvio, and both were delicious and full of flavor! We paired dinner with a bottle of wine and finished with spumoni for dessert — the perfect ending to a special night.

While we chose some of the more indulgent menu options for our celebration, there are definitely dishes that make it more reasonable for regular dining visits as well. For us, it was a perfect choice for a special occasion, and we would highly recommend it when you want a memorable evening out (or when you want to treat yourself to a really fantastic meal in a welcoming environment).

I wanted to love this place because (most) of the food was so so fantastic, but the service and atmosphere was incredibly subpar that I honestly might not dine in again and just get it to go. We sat down at our table and noticed that our section was very empty (only two other tables had guests) and yet it still took our waiter a solid 10 minutes to come over, say hello, and get our drink orders placed. For appetiser we shared the baked clams and vodka pasta and it took 30 minutes for just those two appetisers to come out — which is fine, I guess but our waiter never came to check on us that whole time or explain that the kitchen was slow. We decided to put in our food orders right when the appetisers arrived and thank goodness we did because we waited another solid 30+ minutes for our chicken entrees. We then waited longer than expected for our dessert too. It was confusing because our entire section was so dead, so I am not sure if it was a kitchen issue or if it was our waiter (he seemed oddly overwhelmed and slightly unpleasant). Also, they were playing the same five frank sinatra songs on a loop in the dining area we were in and that was super annoying after a while. They played “Chicago” 3x and was going on 4 in the two hours we were there.

The clams, vodka pasta, and chicken milensa were OUTSTANDING. the clams and pasta especially! we also ordered the half roasted chicken was was very subpar (overcooked and dry). The homemade tiramisu was to die for!

This was my first visit to their new Wheaton location! My family and I have always loved the taste of Positano Oakbrook. This location is an elevated experience compared to their sister restaurant.

The food has the same authentic taste paired with an elegant ambiance perfect for celebrations or date night! It’s dimly lit, sleek and stunning.

I CRAVE the vodka sauce! It’s creamy, yet light, with a little kick of spice. The grigliato misto is a must order every time I visit.

The service is top tear, featuring immediate bread and water service. Our server, Gerardo, was amazing at gauging when we were ready to order without interrupting dinner conversation.

This location is so spacious, including a sprawling outdoor patio, and a bar & lounge separated from the main dining room. My favorite design choice is the stacked, see through wine cellar.

I can confidently say this is the next up and coming Italian spot in the Western suburbs.

My husband and I came here for Valentines’s Day dinner, and it did not disappoint. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Paige was our server, and was very friendly and professional. She was incredibly attentive but not overbearing. Our food and drinks came out quickly and were so delicious. We highly recommend the cannolis. It’s a scratch kitchen, and you can tell! The restaurant was very popular, but not too loud at all. The owner/manager came around asking customers how their food was and if they needed anything, and was also helping the staff clear tables and maintain a good flow. We were so impressed by everything, and can’t wait to come back!

Went to the Wheaton location for my birthday. I had the pizza. It had a nice flavor and toppings but the crust was very hard to chew. My teeth and jaw got a workout. Not a fan. Tasted like frozen pizza dough. Homemade tiramisu was amazing. They even brought out some mini birthday cannoli. I’m not much of a cannoli fan and thought it had a slightly soapy taste. Three others at the table agreed.

Celebrated father’s day here. Great restaurant with awesome Italian food. We started off with non alcoholic beers and Michelob Ultra. The beers were served chilled in the beer glasses. We ordered bruschetta for appetizer which was delicious. For main course we ordered Gnocchi Marinara, Rigatoni Alla Vodka and Ravioli Spinaci. All the pastas were served hot and were flavorful. The food tasted so fresh. The service was superb. The server Nelson was wonderful. We were checked multiple times by various members of the staff. The girl at the front desk was kind enough to come outside and click a picture for us.

I would highly recommend this place! A++ stars!! MUST TRY!!!
