The food was delicious, fresh and good quality. The location is very convenient, not too far from the Cunningham Fall State Park, MD and next to the main road It is a good choice for anyone wants to visit and enjoy your day at the park. This place has a spacious dining room that is simply furnished with coastal or bungalow style room, also there is lot of parking spot outside with outdoor patio seating is available.
p.s. When I was there, I was waiting for food a little long time, maybe it was because they just opened, anyway it is not a big deal for me, and the waitress service was fine.

We loved this place! I mean it’s nothing super fancy or anything but the atmosphere and food is exactly what you’d expect. If you’re familiar with this area I’d call it a redneck Dutches. Like how your favorite aunt in Thurmont, MD, might cook fine Dutches dishes. That’s not a slam. It’s great good food and great drinks. We will 100% return. My only suggestion is to just go ahead and order the all you can eat hard shell crabs cause EVERYONE else will be and if you order anything else it might take a little time to get ready. Worth the wait though.

Best place around thurmont for a great meal. While they specialize in seafood, mainly crabs, their menu offers some excellent choices such as burgers, wings, and sandwiches. They also offer a great dessert select and craft beers on tap. The beers are rotated regularly so it is worth stopping in regularly to see what is on tap. Beer prices are extremely reasonable and they offer a great craft beer selection. They often run food specials such as discounted wings and all you can eat crabs.

We stopped by after visiting the National Shrine for lunch; I saw that this restaurant had great reviews and decided to stop by. It’s definitely a hidden gem in this area. Came in on a busy day (unfortunately they were short staffed but we understood) but just waited patiently.
We first ordered the Cream of Crab Soup (highly recommend getting it, had lumps of crab meat in it and seasoned perfectly). My family ordered the Assorted Seafood Platter, comes with Fried Fish, Fried Shrimp, Broiled Crab Cakes, Clam Strips and Fried Scallops(it literally can feed two people and they still had leftovers) and I ordered the Whiskey Salmon with Mixed Veggies and Sidewinder Fries.
If you like a hole in wall, very unique decor and are in the Thurmont area in Maryland, I definitely recommend coming here for good seafood .

Surprised at how good the food was and the portions! Friendly staff. 1st time customer… will be back to try the crabs with some family and friends. The pretzel and crab appetizer was delicious! I had crab cakes (lots of crab) and my BIL had the Chesapeake burger… he said his was really good as well.

Terrible! Seriously, don’t waste your hard earned money. Our check was about 167.00 for 4 people. ALL the seafood, and I mean ALL the seafood, was extremely salty. Someone please remove the salt from the kitchen. The jumbo lump crab platter / dinner was horrible and I am embarrassed to say how much I paid so just know it was WAY TOO MUCH!!!!!! There was nothing jumbo about the crab meat as it seemed shredded. One crab cake was fried, too long I might add, and the other was broiled but not long enough, and just about raw. There was no consistency to hold it together. The steak was salty and didn’t look a bit appetizing when delivered to the table. Definitely not worth the money. The cream of crab soup was way too salty and a bit on the watery side. Good cream of crab is on the thicker side. The mixed vegetables were mushy and had a spice on them to mask that they were reheated multiple times. One of us got a hamburger and another chicken sandwich which was reported as not to bad. Both had fries that were golden brown just the way I like them but upon better inspection were greasy. If you are reading the reviews, note that most of the positive are from 2022. Just don’t go, it is not worth it. Additionally, the bathroom, at least the female’s has a lot to be desired. The silverware was from the 1900 mess hall and left me thinking if I should actually use it. While it was near Halloween, the rat in the trap, hanging on the mens room door was not just distasteful, it should have been a sign to run! The server was nice, friendly and wanted to do a good job but the food coming out of the kitchen was very slow. Gordon Ramsey go get them!!!!

This was our first time here and boy are we glad that we came! We were greeted by Nikki who was our waitress. She was super nice, gave the best recommendations, and was attentive to our needs. I ordered the pepper burger and it was amazing!!! She also recommended the lump crab balls which was also delicious. I must say this place did not disappoint. We were about an hour away from home but we will for sure make our way back for more!

2nd and last time. Ordered 1/2 dozen large crabs and a side of hush puppies. Received 4 edible small/med crabs and a basket of over cooked hush puppies. ALCE was $40 that day.

Afterhours Fabrication
We were at the zoo next door and figured we stop in here for a late lunch at 2pm. There was only 1 other patron in the restaurant at the time and 1 waitress so we were promptly seated. Soon after, more parties began filing in, and by 3pm there were 8 tabs open with still only 1 waitress. Needless to say, once we received our food, it was impossible to get service. I had to end up standing at the bar to close our table out. Not totally her fault, she definitely needed help, but a quick stop by with the check would have got us back on the road much sooner. The food was ok, but the burger pictures was way undercooked. We took it off and just ate the crab cake part which was fine, just couldn’t get the waitress back to even tell her about it. The rest of the food was decent, just a bit oily.

After spending the afternoon at the Catoctin Zoo right up the road, we wanted to celebrate my sister-in-law’s birthday. She decided on The Furnace Grill. We had six adults and four kids. They were not overly busy, but short staffed possibly. Our waitress mostly ignored us, after we waited 50 minutes for our food we were getting frustrated. Once the food finally showed up, it was quite average. Still, a decent place to go if you are looking for seafood.
