The gelato sizes are very big, but the flavors aren’t very good. The cronuts taste like a Krispy Kreme donut, and the lemon bar was probably the worst lemon bar I’ve had in my life. The decor is all over the place, it doesn’t have a cohesive theme. It’s like this place doesn’t know its own identity, which translates to the desserts. I would not recommend going here. Go to Cannella Gelato instead, it tastes so much better. Also, the Vecchia Pizza gift cards from Costco DO NOT work at this place. I will not be going back.

Vecchia Gelato & Cafe is so delicious, chic, and aesthetically pleasing!
I’m excited to try the Dubai chocolate panettone I bought there. The owner Chef Benard Tamburello recommended I pan fry it in some butter “like we do it in Italy”. He also graciously gifted me a pistachio muffin that I heated up per his instruction and it was unbelievable!
I ordered the Polo Rustico sandwich which was fresh and full of flavor. I am usually not a fan of focaccia and was shocked at how much I enjoyed it. I also really enjoyed the french fries that were house made and in a really tasty, non-greasy oil.
Lastly, the whipped cream in the Maritozzi was to die for! Not too sweet or too heavy. The bun was tender and soft even at 3:30pm.

Was very excited about the prospect of a new coffee shop in the neighborhood. Overall an average experience. The pastries were quite expensive for their quality. The coffee was also average. The sticky buns were actually delicious though. Hopefully growing pains as they are a new business but will likely skip the breakfast and try the sandwiches if I come back again.

Excellent little cafe serving coffee and pastries. Great atmosphere and service. The coffee was pretty much what you might expect in just about any other coffee shop. It was very good and priced competitively.

Almost broke my tooth……ordered one of the flatbreads that comes with olives on it. The menu just says olives that’s it. The olives are served on top of the bread. So I bit into the bread with the olives on top and the olives still had their pits inside and I almost chipped/broke my tooth. Very painful. They need to at the very least write on the menu that olives are unpitted or still have their pits cause it could seriously hurt someone. I got very lucky I don’t have to go to the dentist. I tried speaking with a manager but there was none on duty.

Don’t let the overly critical reviews scare you off, Vecchia Gelato is already a must go spot! Yes, the line was long and the staff may not be as knowledgeable as some people may expect, but the product is phenomenal and fresh. The gelato is dense and delicious. Their coffee is great, and the hot food options rock (plus hige portions )! This is the perfect lunch addition. As a community we have to give the team some grace while they find their rhythm, the quality of the desserts and coffee makes the short wait completely worthwhile. Go! Be patient but have fun!

The owners Benard and Brianna are such amazing people. They put so much care and thought into the food and into both their restaurants! These are the people the city should be supporting! They have been awesome and bring such good food and a great experience in the hoover area!

So yummy! We got pizza at Vecchia, and then went to the cafe for gelato after. The pistachio and Dubai chocolate were delicious! I also got a box pastries which look so good. The music and atmosphere were perfect. The owners are so kind, and have an amazing attention to detail, and use delicious authentic Italian recipes!

I wanted to like this place since I like Vecchia quite a bit, but unfortunately it’s just disappointing. We arrived shortly after opening and tried to order a cortado and a tea latte/London fog. The employee had no idea what a cortado is (which seemed odd for a place advertising to be a coffee/gelato place) so we ordered a latte instead. They also didn’t think they could do a tea latte. We explained that it was a hot tea + steamed milk and they said they could do it, which I appreciated. I also ordered a chocolate-filled pastry. When our drinks arrived the latte was sub-par and the tea was extremely disappointing. Instead of steaming the milk they just dumped some milk in a cup and added the (weak) tea. The pastry was very bad as well, as others have mentioned in their reviews. The employee had clearly microwaved the pastry, but that left it warm on the outside and nearly frozen on the inside. I didn’t eat much of the inside. It was fairly flavorless. I absolutely love what they’ve done with the decor, but the food, drinks and service make the concept feel like a half-baked plan at this point.
