Beer so cold my glass was slushy on the outside.
Loaded tots, phenomenal. I don’t even want to brush my teeth because the flavor is so good afterwards!
Service was great, lovely conversation with our host/server/bartender, Paige.
Atmosphere was homey, chill, comfortable, clean, welcoming.
The one guy smoking in the bar wasn’t our favorite but whatever, we didn’t die. If you die from one cigarette, maybe stick to Denny’s in St Louis, though the AJ’s dining room is non-smoking. More seating in the bar, so we sat there for realistic atmosphere.
Highly recommend if you’re passing through the area. We’ll probably come back next time we’re on a road trip.

It wasn’t too bad I guess. I got the cheese sticks, chicken wings, and a burger. I only ate the cheese sticks in the place. They were good I guess. I didn’t even try the chicken wings. Just cause it reminded me of my chickens. My aunt got like 26 wings though. So I guess she liked them. I JUST tried the burger. And it might have been good if I ate it while it was warm. But the bread got soggy. And it wasn’t the best. So the cheesticks were the best part. The waitress was nice I guess. The bathroom was clean so that’s good I guess. Idk what else to say.

Went there for lunch and that had to be the best mushroom swiss burger i ever had. My God the beef patty was super thick and cooked perfectly. My Dad had the special which was a grilled pork tenderloin with green beans and mashed potatoes and gravy. I had a taste of this amazing piece of meat and it Was fabulous. Mashed potatoes were also yummy. Both meats were juicy and cooked perfectly. Service was excellent as well. She was a happy person. We will be back.

I would love to give a huge shout out to AJ’s Grindstone Restaurant & Bar. James let me and my wife have our wedding reception there Saturday night, it couldn’t have gone better every thing was perfect Angie had a smile all night and was very friendly. I cant say enough about james he helped us so much and really made us feel welcome cared about and loved. This family owned business really allowed us to have a amazing reception and night. We’re very blessed and grateful. Thank you guys so much for everything ❤️

Food was typical and ok. It’s a handy restaurant to have in town. It was very cold in there, not sure the heater was working quite right. The waitress was great. My son loved the chicken nuggets shaped like animals.

We were camping and wanted an easy place for dinner Friday evening. There’s a restaurant in front and a bar in the rear.

I’ve been to AJ’s a few times now and this is THE bar to go to when you’re in Montgomery City. I honestly don’t know how Dry Dock can still even compete. There is 2 pool tables as opposed to one and there is plenty of room to move around whereas the other bars in town, you’re literally shoulder to shoulder with everyone around you. It is very claustrophobic.
I honestly feel like as long as AJ stays on top of it like he has been, it won’t be long till this bar beats out the competition entirely.
