It was 1999 when China City opened its doors to the world and let everyone enjoy the delicious American-Chinese cuisine. And within a short period of time, people were raving for the cuisine more than ever. Our locations make sure that you get the best American-Chinese feeling as possible. The first location is on Whidbey Island in Freeland, which boasts a Victorian style building that is surrounded with Asian air, trees and Portuguese Laurels. The second location in Oak Harbor has everything you would need to make yourself at home and relaxed. Our newest location is in Mill Creek, a place to escape the bustle of the shopping center in our beautiful dining area.

Love this place!! We stopped based on a recommendation … so glad we did. Ordered Chicken w/ Broccoli (asked for spicy level 3). Wow! It was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Also, ordered pork fried rice and shrimp fried rice. They even offered to box our food. Great restaurant, highly recommend it.

I have been to many Chinese food restaurants in the PNW. This is by far my favorite. Excellent atmosphere, service and food. All around 5 stars! If you’re in the area, stop in here. You will not be disappointed.

My boyfriend ordered house fried rice, and it was 18 dollars. This is the full portion. Absolutely ridiculous. He even called to ask about it, to see if it was a mistake. They laughed at him. Completely unprofessional behavior and will not be eating here again.

Apparently, this is $18 worth of house fried rice, BEFORE tax and tip. Called the restaurant, and was literally laughed at for questioning the portion size. It had better taste absolutely mind blowing, but having eaten here with some regularity in the past (probably not going to continue giving these people my money after this interaction)… I won’t hold my breath.
Considering I spent over $30 before tip on a carryout order, I’m surprised I didn’t get any plastic silverware or chopsticks, either.

Second time coming here & we love it! Nice little oasis on the outside deck especially. The food is top notch & reasonably priced. We ordered a family style meal for 2 or 3, definitely had left overs for later that night. Service was great as well.
Well be coming here ever trip to the island!

Food was pretty good, nothing above average for a Chinese restaurant which is not bad, just not exceptional like I would say yes you have to go here. If you like Chinese food this place won’t let you down. The service is excellent but the inside of the restaurant looks a little dated. It is clean has plenty of seating and since the bar is a separate area I think it’s actually a separate building next to it, it’s not too loud in the restaurant section.

Had dinner#3, everything was delicious, loved the crab wontons, lumpia, sizzling rice soup, house beef and chicken and broccoli. Our other party really enjoyed the health nut fried rice. Nice ambiance, service could have been a bit better, but she was friendly.

Great food and great service. In today’s post COVID world, my food service expectations have been reduced to just being happy that someone is willing to come to work, take my order and serve me food. Laura went well beyond these expectations and provided EXCELLENT service. All of the food came out hot and tasting freshly prepared. The General Ng’s Chicken that I had was fantastic (but I wish I would have had it with Jasmine rice instead of fried rice). The Crab Rangoon was really good as was the Hot & Spicy soup.

Friendly staff!! Punctual people, very good!
The food looks good, but with my experience, there wasn’t much flavor for my taste… I had the Wor Won ton soup with noodles; spice level was good, presentation was sweet, but the flavor was just not there…
They do have a bar, so if you end up going and don’t like the food, there’s always that route (I’m kidding, but they really do have a bar!)
The scape is pretty and pleasant to look at.

The food was amazing. The atmosphere was just incredible! The beautiful art and serene setting were wonderful. We were told it would be a 15-20 minute wait because the kitchen was backed up with take out orders. We were seated in the bar to wait. The bar was half empty. After waiting at least 10-15 minutes, the server never acknowledged us, so we ordered at the bar. The hostess came and got us shortly thereafter and seated us. We were assured the drinks would be brought to our table. We waited another 10-15 minutes and asked our server. A while later, my husband went to the bar himself, and they said we were on the list, and it wouldn’t be long now. Fifteen minutes after that, we had our soup, but we still didn’t have our drinks. My husband went back again and finally got them. He ordered a bottle of beer, and I got the world’s worst mojito. It had no mint except for the garnish, and it tasted like a canned, pre-made, gross mint water and rum mixture, with very little sugar or lime. Yuck. Not worth the price or the wait. The food was really good. The combo dinner was $25 a person, and included: hot and sour soup, 2 egg rolls, 4 pot stickers, fried rice, almond chicken, and Mongolian beef.
