Fantastic experience. The host was incredibly friendly and charming from the moment we walked in, and the whole staff was genuinely pleasant. The food was perfect, everything we ordered was excellent. Great atmosphere and one of our favorite meals in Florence. Highly recommend.

We had a lovely dinner at Trattoria Giovanni. We loved how cozy, spacious, and genuinely local it felt, like eating at your grandma’s house. It’s close enough to the lively, bustling part of Firenze to feel connected, yet just far enough to escape the city’s never-ending wave of tourists. The service was incredible, and the owner (I’m pretty sure it was the owner?) brought so much energy that he single-handedly turned the whole place into an eclectic little spot during the “rush hour” of the evening.

The menu was solid, if a bit “generic” at times. While everything we ordered was delicious, nothing at Trattoria Giovanni felt like a dish you couldn’t find elsewhere… and honestly, that’s perfectly fine! It was traditional, comforting, and exactly what we were craving. The plate of cured meats and cheese was phenomenal, a great start to the meal. The pastas were really good as well, though one of the meat dishes had a slightly off texture, with the chunks of meat a bit overcooked.

All in all, we loved our meal and would definitely recommend this spot if you’re in Florence.

The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. The food is excellent — truly delicious and very unique. For the quality offered, the prices are more than fair and definitely reasonable. Unfortunately, the service towards non-Italian speaking guests was quite disappointing. The staff seemed rather uninterested. We were not asked if we would like any drinks besides the water we ordered, and wine glasses were cleared without any comment. No one asked whether the food was good or if everything was fine. The appetizer plates were only removed when the main course was served at the same time. What made it even more noticeable was that many locals were seated around us and clearly received much more attentive and friendly service. As a non-local guest, this made us feel somewhat excluded, which is a pity — especially given how great the location and food are.

I had dinner at this restaurant during my short trip in Florence . I arrived early around 18:30 they have like 4 table with customers so the service was not chaotic .. i order just “Papardelle al cinghiale “ because in less then 2 hours i haveed a train to catch. they bring the plate when i was in the toilet , not enough the plate was dirty and full of finger prints and water marks .. they probably finished “brillantante “in the dishwasher .. I immidiatly said to the waiter that the food was great but unfortunatly the plate was not presentable … he was polait and try to bring me onother one .. but unfortunatlh for me i haven’t much time to wait .. Food was good but service detaile horible .. considering it was not busy hours they could done a better job .. and on the background you could hear some plates being broken in the kitchen .

We had a wonderful experience at Trattoria Giovani recently. We ordered two different pasta dishes and tried their white wine, and everything was absolutely delicious! The pasta was perfectly cooked and bursting with fresh flavors-a real treat.

To cap off the meal, we indulged in their tiramisu, which was the perfect, creamy, and coffee-infused end to a great dinner.

Beyond the fantastic food, the atmosphere was great. It had that wonderful, warm trattoria charm that made for a truly enjoyable evening.

Highly recommend Trattoria Giovani if you’re looking for delicious, authentic Italian food and a lovely dining experience.

Othmane my server was very knowledgeable about the menu. His wine recommendation for my bean soup was perfect and he also recommended a beautiful Brunello for my pasta with beef cheek. He remained attentive and available each time I needed additional help.
The meal was delicious and I had no left overs even though the portions were substantial.

We had dinner on a Monday night, it was full of students with loud 80s music playing. The service was good, the food ok but not great. We ordered Gnocchi con gorgonzola e noci, gnocchi was nice and soft but the walnuts were old and the cheese cream was very heavy. We also ordered Paccheri al ragù di lepre. The sauce tasted delicious but the rabbit meat was a bit tough.

our first florentine steak was a hit at trattoria Giovanni. my husband brought me here to celebrate my birthday and it was a lovely vibe. All food was excellent – the steak was a hit! loved the samba takes on pop hits, and the limoncello to end was wonderful

The atmosphere was incredible, the service was warm and friendly, and the food was magnificent! We had the tagliolini alla crema di tartufo & the tagliata di manzo all’aceto balsamico. Both had amazing flavor!! The mixed berry panna cotta for dessert topped it all off. The owner/manager was super friendly and was singing along to some of the songs playing in the restaurant, with a voice of an opera singer!! Would definitely come back!

Service and ambiance was wonderful. Titu is so funny.

Dishes are definitely more home-y and
makes you feel like you’re in Nonna’s home again.

Tried the wild boar pasta and the ravioli. Ravioli filling was delicious but the tomato sauce was a bit too acidic for my preferences.

Tiramisu was yum.
