I’ve never been to a Mr Hero until today. I’ve heard of this chain for years, but never lived close enough to one to order. This location opened a couple days ago in Mansfield and I wanted to try it out.

Overall, this was a great experience.

First off, the service. I pulled up to the drive thru and after a couple moments I could tell there was a struggle. The young lady trying to take the order from the vehicle in front of me was having a really tough time hearing. She had to ask the customer several times to repeat their order.

I just wanted to yell out the window to the customer ordering to use their outside voice. But the point of this story is the employee was patient, kind, and was entirely pleasant through the whole situation.

I pulled up to order and she was just as pleasant with me. You wouldn’t even have known she had been dealing with a pain in the butt customer previously. She also spoke clearly and repeated my order and price back to me.

Yes, these are basics. But how many times have you ordered at a drive through and you can’t understand the employee? Or they don’t repeat your order back for confirmation? Or they don’t give you a total for your order?

More often than not.

I got to the window after ordering and she was pleasant to speak to. She had a huge smile as well. It seemed as if she was actually enjoying her job.

Incredible first impression. I think her name was Anya. Sorry for I spelled that incorrectly. I believe it needs to be recognized when someone has such a positive attitude and personality.

And it didn’t feel phony like it does at Chik-Fil-A.

I took my food home and was optimistic considering my first encounter with the young lady in the drive thru. And I wasn’t disappointed

To be fair, this is not restaurant quality food. But I’m not expecting that. I will say though this is a step up from McDonald’s, or BK, or T-Bell.

I ordered a Romanburger and potato wafflers. (Waffle fries.) The burger was seasoned well. Considering this is fast food, that I was not expecting. And the veggies were fresh. And it had just the right about of mayo on it.

The bread was really good. It might have been the best part of the sammich actually.

The waffle fries were tasty and cooked well. And they had salt on them. Everywhere I go and get waffle fries they always come without any salt on them and are bland as can possibly be. Not here. They salted them. Again, small thing. But it’s important.

I will definitely be back. I want to try out a handful of things here. I’m not just a food junkie, but a major fast food junkie. I’m wondering if this can top my favorite fast food chains, Jack-In-The-Box and CookOut. We will see.

Solid food, quick to serve, and possibly the best customer service I’ve had at a fast food location. All for less than $10.

Edit: Came back for another round. Mostly positive.

The service at the drive thru was again, really good. I ordered a Nashville hot waffledoodle, loaded tots, and funnel cake fries.

The Nashville hot waffledoodle was surprisingly really good. I had low expectations, but there was good flavor on the chicken and the waffle was delish. I wish the chicken was a bit spicier is all.

The loaded tots were solid. Fried well and plenty of toppings. Very happy with them.

The funnel fries were a miss for me. They taste like a fast food dessert, and not the good type. These won’t ever rival a frosty, blizzard, or cookies from Subway. Also, they only gave me five, the order is for seven. Not a huge deal, but disappointing all the same.

I will be back though. Several things on the menu that I still want to try.

Edit 2: Grabbed a late lunch here today. I ordered the regular size hot buttered cheesesteak and a BLTE waffledoodle. Overall, I’m happy with both sammiches, especially when I factor in the price.

I would say Penn Station has a much better cheesesteak. However, this is roughly half the price. I really like the bread they use a lot. I just wish it was toasted and they put more mushrooms on the sammich.

The waffledoodles are just great. You gotta try them.

2 large meals and sandwiches were all messed up. Even ordered on line and they had plenty of time to get it right. Do Better!

I went through drive through and ordered 2 sandwiches. $33. My drink was forgotten but things happen, they were friendly enough when I asked about it. I get home however and I find 3 sandwiches. None are mine. There was only 1 car behind me so I’m not sure how that mixup happened. I didn’t have time to go back so I attempted to eat what I had. Attempted. Hot buttered cheesesteak? More like hot buttered buttcheeks. I would rather lick a slaughterhouse floor than attempt to choke down one of those sandwiches again. This was the one and only time I will ever eat at a Mr. Hero. .

Just my opinion
First time in years and last time. The romanburger sandwiches have gotten so small, no flavor at all. The waffle fries could be cooked longer and salted. Also, the chicken wrap is just a mess. So much dressing that it just falls apart. Bigger prices, smaller portions. No flavor.

Not many people there, and it took too long to get my food. What really bothered me though is that they charged me more for the items that I ordered than the menu right above the counter showed. Why do you do ghis and take advantage of customers? I didn’t notice when I was there because they don’t give your receipt until they do your food.

Great customer service. Best food in town. I visit the location often and never have had any issues. Romanburger, waffle fries and cheese sauce is a must.

Thankful blessed man
Stopped at this location on Saturday. Ordered a large Romanburger with extra meat. The menu said that the extra meat was $3, yet they charged me $4 for it. If the charge for this is different than you need to tell customers upfront and not wait for them to read their receipt after they have left. Really bad business for Mr. Hero to do this.

This was the worst experience I’ve had with Mr hero, I loved Mr hero growing up, just came back from newyork had a huge craving for it, my order was wrong mind you, I was missing quite a few things, then others were completely wrong, the Roman burger was just disgusting. It’s like they don’t season it anymore, called up there, stayed on hold for 10 minutes then hung up, I wasted money, the food is still sitting on my counter. I will never go back!

Decent sandwich shop, good value. Drive thru available. Far better than the Subway across the street. Easy stop right off of 30. Good first time experience will definitely go back.
