We stopped in after walking around the area. It’s off season so we were the only ones in there. There was a young girl working who was friendly and answered all of our questions. There are tons of flavors to choose from and they have homemade waffle cones/bowls. The ice cream and waffle bowls were delicious. Prices seem fair for what you get.
The place did seem a little cluttered and probably not the cleanest but most older businesses aren’t. I personally love these older places.
I will say on the other side of the store there are items for sale that could be considered political. (they did have some gorgeous wood flags) If your easily bothered by these things this probably isn’t your place.

***UPDATED***
I’m shocked and saddened by the owner’s response. I was simply trying to protect other families like my own. I could have called the state and sent you our ER bills, but I did none of that. Since your response was to blame me for almost killing my son, I decided to post a photo of the ice cream name that was MISLABELED. There were pecans in the ice cream and it was NOT labeled correctly. My husband even returned after we left the hospital to try to talk to your employees again and was again blown off. That’s when he took the photo. And before you say that he took a photo of the wrong ice cream, it was the only one you had with coconut, so it was not the wrong one. If you truly have a grandchild with a nut allergy, you would have taken this more seriously. Take accountability for your actions. Do better!

My son and I had to go to the ER for anaphylaxic shock due to their labeling being wrong. They had an ice cream that said it had almonds but they were really pecans. They were made aware and blew it off acting like it wasn’t a big deal, not even offering a refund. That ice cream we couldn’t even eat ended up costing us an ER trip for 2. I’m just glad my son is OK because seeing him like that was so scary. Don’t eat here if you have food allergies!

Grandpa’s Ice Cream and Pies was basically the only dessert spot in Lake Ozark and we couldn’t say no to ice cream so we gave it a try. They have a pretty big selections of flavors and it’s all supposedly homemade so I was excited. Unfortunately they fell flat with delivery. I’m assuming the older gentleman that helped us was “grandpa”as in the owner of the establishment. He didn’t really seem friendly to me, I felt like he just wanted to know what we wanted so he could get it and we’d get out of his store type of vibe. I could tell the other customers that came in both before and after us seemed to be regulars and I’m assuming they are the ones leaving five star reviews. Because I will say that the place isn’t all that. It’s very rundown and half of the store seems to be storage for their products. They sell a variety of apparel and Trump memorabilia. It’s very chaotic.

My husband and I tried their mint chocolate chip ice cream with hot fudge on top. I’ll be honest. It was some of the worst ice cream I’ve ever had. The ice cream tasted like it had been sitting for a while. The hot fudge, if you can call it that, was a strange consistency and almost appeared like it was separating on top of the ice cream.

We ate what we could then got out of there with a quickness. I would honestly never be back, not that they would care anyways. I got the vibe that they were a bit racist anyways. 100% do NOT recommend.

Edit: the fact that the owner responded the way they did should say enough for anyone planning on visiting this establishment. I obviously have pictures of the front of their store and their god awful ice cream. Yes, unfortunately I did walk in and give them my business. This is NOT a fake review. Maybe the owner shouldn’t have all of their friends and family write the fake five star reviews. Those are the ones that should be taken with a grain of salt because this place is definitely NOT good or worth the price at all. I stand by my one star review. DO NOT come here.

The place is a bit run down. But the ice cream and waffle cones/bowls were delicious Although the lady handling my waffle bowl did not use gloves when picking it up which was a little unsettling. The vibe is weird- for sure. There was a cardboard cut out of Trump along with a bunch of police/political shirts/ accessories inside the store. ( There is also a Trump/ political store next door, which made me wonder if it’s the same owner or just like minded individuals). The political stuff didn’t bother me, it just seemed out of place in an ice cream shop.

I mean, I would go back. The ice cream was good and decently priced- if you don’t like the things inside, there are plenty of seats outside to enjoy it!

“You can’t make everyone happy, but ice cream can!”
If perfectly creamy homemade ice cream is on your agenda at the Lake of the Ozarks near Bagnell Dam, make sure you stop in at Grandpa’s. If the line is outside the door, be sure you take a couple of minutes to look at it all of the flavors in the cases before you order. Anyone behind the counter will scoop for you. AND a serving is 2 scoops, so you can get two of the same or two different ones for about $4!
Grandma was at the register and I asked her about her art. She created the little photo stand outside and all of the ice cream murals around the place. We’ll be back!

Great place! Highly recommended!!!

Ita even better now they have added American Patriot supportive flags, shirts , hats and awesome wooden flags. This is definitely a business that I want to support. Grandpa and grandma were both working today. This is what America is all about! God Bless them, their family and this business!

We tried this little shop out for the first time earlier today and liked it so much we came back tonight for round 2. Lovely people and the ice cream is delicious! They also have shaved ice and fresh lemonade, which our friends tried and said was really good as well! We will definitely be returning.

The place is littered with Trump merch which is really odd pairing for ice cream. It being “the daughter’s shop” is a weak defense by the owner and they know it. There is no wall or anything separating the two stores and there is no way to tell they are two stores without being told so. The register for the ice cream and the register for the Trump merchandise are about 12 ft away from each other.

Just really odd behavior from a business owner that claims to want our business.

My second time coming. What’s not to like? It’s ice cream and they have many flavors you are bound to like one of them. They have pie and soda here also among other things. There are places to sit outside while you enjoy your day. I got the Blueberry and Turtle in a cup. I like this place and highly recommend.
