great ragu sauce, good flavors and so tender. got orange wine – wasn’t the biggest fan but my fault for not tasting. Duck w crispy polenta was quite good, enjoyed the braised vegetables. Good vibes here, nice ambience and great service. Very good date night place. Perfect (unisex) bathroom for selfies (well decorated).

I’m gonna say it: the food is good, but I don’t think it’s revolutionary. Look, I get it, they put a lot of effort and care into what they do I am absolutely sure, but I did not experience anything truly mind-blowing other than the chicken “wing” which a wing in name only.

I felt this was fanciness for fancy’s sake. I felt fussed over, getting my fork taken away and replaced 3 times.

Maybe I’m just not not fancy enough for this type of place.

For drinks we had:
Three Guarantees 10/10
This was such an easy sip. Very delicious drink not too Smokey. I added a salt rim and it was an icing on the cake. A drink I could not put.

Espresso Martini 10/10
Hands down one of THE best espresso martini we have ever had. Not too sweet. Another easy sip. The coffee was delicious.

Passionfruit Margarita 8/10
This is deff a summer drink. Very refreshing and a nice follow up behind the three guarantees.

Penicillin 8/10
This is a scotch drink with ginger and a drink that is an acquired taste. The ginger was very overpowering and made me feel like I was sipping a spiced tea. My partner enjoyed this one.

For apps we had:
Deviled egg 8.5/10
Deff one of the better deviled eggs we have compared to other places. We each got 2 each. For me it wasn’t flavorful just very very rich.

Crispy boneless chicken leg 10/10
The chicken is served as one big meatball not really a chicken leg. Wasn’t really crispy either but we both enjoyed this one. Chicken was very juicy. Not really a shareable plate.
For our main course we had

Cured NZ king salmon belly tartare 10/10
Do not skip this one. Every bite was so fresh and tasty. It is a shareable meal but personally I would not share next time. One of my favorites of the night

Spaghetti Bolognese 10/10
Hands down THE best bolognese I ever had in my life. Deff not shareable. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the sauce was so rich and flavorful. I could not put my fork down and wanted to lick the plate clean. Such a memorable plate. Every bite had meat. Do not skip this one

Black spaghetti 8/10
My partner favorite. For me it tasted like soy sauce or something Asian cuisine ish. This meal is indeed an acquired taste. The noodles were cooked to perfection

Beef top round tartare 10/10
Not shareable but we made it work. This was another favorite of the night. So fresh and so flavorful. Left me wanting more. Do not skip this one.

Sautéed Hudson Valley foie gras 10/10
Hands down THE best foie gras we ever had. It was so melt in your mouth and the duck was outstanding. Not shareable at all. Do not skip this one just get it. Trust me.

Boneless stuffed chicken breast 10/10
This was another good one. The potato purée complemented the chicken very nicely . Chicken was juicy. Wasn’t really stuffed with anything. The whole meal was flavorful.

Seared beef tenderloin filet 7.5/10
This one was kind of a miss for us. It is served medium rare. The beef was little dry and not really flavorful. Not really a memorable dish for us compared to the other things we tried and it left me surprised because I had high expectations.

For dessert we had:
Brown butter panna cotta 6/10
It comes with butter cake and sorbet. Not shareable. It felt like I was eating diet. It like 2 small pieces of butter cake which was dry. The sorbet was the only good thing on this plate. The panna cotta was good too. There was nothing memorable about this dessert. It’s a pass.

Chocolate ‘Tiramisu’ 10/10
My god one of THE best tiramisu we ever had. Not a shareable dessert. It comes with black ice cream and my god every bite was delicious and very rich. Another favorite of the night

If you want to impress someone and you got money then come here. We arrived early to our res and did not have to wait to be seated. Our server Sharon (Sorry if I spelled your name wrong) took great care of us and was very educated on the meals and gave us great recommendations. We will be coming back next month. come with MONEY like $300 for 2 people and if you are going to come hungry then make sure you do what we did. Create your own tasting experience. Because coming hungry and only ordering one thing you will leave mad and disappointed. The portions are small. The only reason why they only get 4 stars from me is because we wrote down it was our anniversary and host and server did not acknowledge that. Usually every place we go to on our anniversary will mention it as the first thing out of their mouth. It looks like they do not read any notes you leave when booking.

Persimmon is my favorite restaurant in Providence.

The food is delicious and also beautifully plated. We selected the chef’s tasting menu and it was excellent.

We enjoyed our experience here! I really liked the dim & cozy atmosphere. Had to wait awhile for waitress despite reservation but once she arrived was very kind & attentive for the entirety of our experience. Portions small but delicious & satisfying. I had pumpkin gnocchi, I wish sage flavor was more noticeable but it was very good. Great bread, & dessert too. My husband loved his cocktail as well. Will def be back!

My fiancé and I had a fantastic dinner. The food was delicious, and the bartender was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere felt like a cozy neighborhood spot. The wine list was extensive, and every dish we ordered was perfectly prepared.

Well-refined New American fare with excellent hospitality.

Finally stopped by for dinner after hearing countless good reviews. With multiple James Beard Best Chef nominations in the Northeast, Chef-owner Champe Speidel is a well-known name, and our expectations were high. A great technician without unnecessary theatrics, his culinary philosophy was reflected through the menu—somewhat echoing the feel of Boston’s top New American restaurants while maintaining a distinct identity. Rather than chasing avant-garde trends, the selection was a good mix of impeccably executed classics such as the spaghetti bolognese and experimental twists like the crispy pork belly paired with pho broth.

We started with a few of their most popular small plates, and our favorites were the chilled foie gras and the salmon belly tartare. The Foie Gras Crème Caramel had the silky richness of foie but was as delicate as the custard inside a caramel cream bun. The umami was subtle, and the cornbread crumbles on top reinforced that dessert-like impression. The salmon belly tartare was a well-executed and satisfying combination—essentially extra-fatty salmon atop a classic caviar and crispy potato base, and we both enjoyed it.

Unfortunately, two of their signature dishes were a bit disappointing—the black spaghetti and the stuffed chicken breast. I personally love bottarga-based pasta, so the spaghetti was my most anticipated dish. Instead of being fully incorporated into the sauce, the bottarga was chopped into small bits, which left the flavors uneven. The pasta itself leaned dry and could have benefited from more oil for better cohesion. As for the chicken, I wasn’t sure why it was labeled “stuffed”—there was nothing inside. Still, the chicken was incredibly tender, and while a bit salty on its own, the glazed vegetables and potato purée helped balance the flavors.

The foie gras entrée, on the other hand, was excellent. The classic fruit-and-foie combination worked well, but the highlight was the braised duck, presented as a sausage, which added depth and a touch of tartness that complemented the foie beautifully.

For dessert, we opted for the Torta di Riso. Personally, I’m not a fan of sweet rice pudding, and the cold, grainy rice texture in each bite was off-putting. However, the smoked vanilla bean ice cream and toasted meringue on the side? Absolute fire.

I’m still getting familiar with the dining scene in Providence, so I can’t confirm whether this is truly the city’s best restaurant. But so far, it’s the best I’ve experienced, and I’d gladly return next time I’m in town.

The best restaurant in town, hands down. I’d go so far as to say the best restaurant I’ve been to, period.

Every time we go, my wife and I get the tasting menu and we’ve never once been disappointed. The creativity on display is exceptional, but the real star of the show is the execution. Every single dish, from amuse-bouche to entree to dessert to drink pairings is perfect. Perfect. The food has been so consistently exceptional every time we’ve gone that if I ever received a bad dish I’d question what was wrong with ME first.

It’s not just the tasting menus, either. The menu constantly changes to reflect what’s best available at the given time. In a way it’s sad: there’s so many amazing dishes you try that you’ll never have the chance to try again. The benefit, however, is that there will always be new and exciting things to try when you next come back (and trust me, you WILL be coming back).

The service is above and beyond. The staff are true professionals without being pretentious. I have never once had to ask for fresh silverware, a refill, or had to clear a plate. They’re there when you need them, and letting you enjoy the moment when you don’t. Personable, friendly, attentive.

In fact, my wife and I enjoy Persimmon so much, we had dinner there for our wedding. Every whim, food restriction, and preference was catered to. Not a single person had anything bad to say. Oh, and they made us a wedding cake, too. You know, just a little side project. (The cake was so good I had two pieces that night. I also had a piece for breakfast the next morning.) A special thank you to Lisa for being an absolute pleasure to work with and making our dreams a reality.

Chef Speidel and Lisa have an amazing crew working with them, and they’ve built something really special. Five stars (and maybe an extra one to three if the right people ever come around).

The best restaurant we’ve eaten at in Providence so far. My partner and I had the New Year’s Eve menu, which was so delicious and very well-executed. Highlights were the pickled oyster canapés, the bay scallop caramelle, and the olive oil cake dessert. Service was super attentive. We are eager to return for their regular menu! Highly recommend.

The chef tasting menu is absolutely worth it. The courses have multiple dishes that are all wonderful. I cannot eat gluten and they were able to adjust the menu for me. Don’t sleep on the asparagus soup, it’s amazing. 10/10 recommend! Our server, Julie, was incredibly polite, friendly, and accommodating!
