Deans Gyros is a classic late night stop! Back in high school/college days (circa 2000) – Deans is where we’d go for late night food.
Now-a-days, BG Fries (butter garlic fries) is my main draw to Deans. And it’s fun to pass along Deans to my kids, as a next generation right of passage.
There was this one cook that seemed to be here ALL THE TIME (literally for decades), and he was great. Not sure what he moved on to.
We all love the BG fries (be sure to order them “extra crispy”, and the gyro meal is a great option also.
Back in the day, the pizza puff was my go-to. Now it’s the BG fries!

A decent gyro place you can try. They also have other options you can order here. The price is also decent. The atmosphere is very comfy and looks local. The staff here are very friendly.

The good:
– A big, consistent menu.
– On a good day, the food is very good.
– One of the best vanilla ice cream cones, and it’s super cheap!
The bad:
– They have closed early 4-5 times by 30 minutes. While cleaning is a part of food services, you shouldn’t have the open sign on and flashing.
– The food is expensive, especially when the sandwiches can be glorified lunch meat.
– A few mistakes when making your food, such as not microwaving the sub you wanted warm.
– Speaking of which, when ordering a warm sandwich, shouldn’t that mean the bread and meat are put on the grill? Not a simple nuke for 30-45s?
– For a few months, their garlic fries had an awful, chemical flavor.
– Fries are often undercooked/floppy.
– Their bathroom is rough.
– To keep their prices “””low”””, some things have been downsized.
Out of the entire family, only one person in it is willing to go to Dean’s now. That’s a shame considering we’ve been going to them for years.

I don’t understand why the food is not hot. When I was the only one in the restaurant with my daughter. I ordered a Gyro. I have had plenty of gyros. I would never be back there again for it to be my first time. Yall should be ashamed and obvious don’t want any customers. This was not worth my money. A complete rip off.

Today we went in for lunch and got a satisfying meal, but it is way over priced for what we got. The gyro plate comes with barely enough meat for both pitas and the butter garlic fries we paid $2.29 extra for barely had any butter and garlic on them. It was an okay meal, but not for the price we paid. Dean’s quality is going down and it’s dissapointing.

Dean’s been the spot since early 90s (I can not remember the late 80s) food is top tier, prices in today’s economy are very reasonable, the employees are kind and make the food correctly, the entire building was very clean. Best Cherry RC in the world! God bless the owners and employees. I pray they have a booming business for as long as they wish ✝️

Usually they are decent but I will never get an Italian beef from this place. There wasn’t much meat and just dry overall. I got two and they both looked the same.

Dean’s is a far south suburban staple! Have been going there since the 80″s. I was disappointed at the Italian combo! More bread than meat. It was like literally like 3 pieces of Italian beef. I asked for hot peppers expecting giardinera and got sport peppers! The turkey sub and Butter and Garlic cheese fries made up for the combo
