It’s always a great experience coming to this McDonald’s. The best place to stop off and eat on your way to Vegas. There are other vendors inside the train station with plenty of food, clothing, and merchandise to choose from. Kids love coming here and having a meal inside a train; it’s air conditioned and there is a lot of seating available. You can also take a picture sitting next to Ronald McDonald. The menu is reasonable and the staff is friendly.

One of the coolest Mcdonalds I’ve ever been in. This is a former train that’s been converted to a Mcdonalds and a few other stores. They’ve done a great job recently renovating the location as well.

We got the nuggets, fries, and a McDouble.

Can’t go wrong.

On our way to Las Vegas during Thanksgiving week, we stopped at the McDonald’s inside Barstow Station for a quick lunch. It was crowded with many travelers, but there were plenty of seats.

The Double Cheeseburger was smaller than expected and didn’t feel like a true double. Overall, a convenient rest area for a quick stop.

This Mc is at a unique location on Route 66 and in a unique setting of old train wagons. Definitely not your typical Mc Donald’s building. Bit slow service but hey where else can you go in a 100 mile radius.

They have remodeled and removed the self-serve fountain drinks. Maybe they will return when they are done. Still in process January 2026.
Hard to get someone’s attention, they seem shorthanded. I used the app and ordered through the kiosk. They got the order correct but the burger was not warm. Bun was a little stale. Fries were good .
You have to go back to the counter for a refill.
Bathrooms on the McDonald’s side have a lock that requires a code. Bathrooms on the other side, by the jerky are wide open.
Works for a relatively quick stop IF none of the busses are there. Otherwise, expect a line.
Good luck with your timing and…enjoy!

I loved this place as a kid. A McDonald’s where you can eat in a train car! Fast forward many years….the new McDonald’s on a Sunday was PACKED and took over an hour to get my food. I should have left, but I stuck it out. After the huge crowd left I was there with no food. My order was given away or lost. They did make my order, but over an hour was lost. If your traveling thru Barstow, literally stop anywhere else but here!

Drive-thru was very fast. (Big crowd inside at Kiosks. But the seating was very empty).

The food tastes better than most California McDonald’s! I detest McDonald’s usually and avoid them, but my husband says his was the best food he’s ever gotten from a McDonald’s and he “would want to go back”!
The children’s chicken nuggets, however had much to be desired and had a slight aftertaste (never had a toddler reject eating even 1 chicken nugget before)!

Train lovers would think this place is cool!
The building is a bunch of Train box cars put together; joined with an old Train stop.
Right next to a train track.

Its bigger on than inside than it looks from the outside. The inside is basically a mini-mall – they have at least 3 different bathrooms (one is upstairs), lots of shops with snacks, accessories, and souvenirs. Lots of restaurants – not just McDonalds – there was Subway, Chinese, Boba, etc.

Sad. This stop is going downhill. Will probably shut down within the next 2 years. Wait time at McDonald’s was easy longer than it should’ve been compared to how busy (or not busy) it was. This used to be THE stop on the way to and from Vegas, but we’lll most likely skip this on the way back.

Not the experience one is used to at a McDonald’s. This unit is takeout only – there is plenty of shared space to park yourself to chow down. Several other food stores offer takeout.
More geared towards the road warrior driving through – if you decide to go in person – you’ll need a code to use the restroom.
Plus: it is a 10 minute walk to the huge Tesla supercharger. Minus: must pickup food to eat in the car before charging.
Not the top choice at this location.
