Sat at the bar Leeah served us. Drinks were tasty, had a hot Toddy, first in q5 years. For dinner had the Filet Tartare, which was exceptional well balanced between pickles, and mustard. Also the carpaccio was perfect. Finished with the brie which also had just enough with the crunch of the walnuts. This is definitely worth stopping fir an excellent dining experience. Also the staff was great and on point.

First try of this place, on a Mother’s Day, and truly a great place for tapas. The seafood paella, Chilean sea bass tapas, olive dips with pita was very delicious. Ambiance is good, great setup of a place. Hailey our server, plus the co-servers were on top of their game. Highly, highly recommended to try this place.

Most of the food on the menu we loved and we ordered quite a lot. I personally loved the lobster Mac n’ cheese for example but everything on the menu tasted great, right down to dessert.

In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in HB. Great ambiance, great food with an often changing menu. Sitting at the chef’s counter is fantastic, but sitting at the bar also great. I always have conversations at the bar with other HB locals. Really top restaurant even though it’s in a strip mall. Great for lunch or dinner. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes so everyone should be able to find a dish they like. Can’t go wrong.

Fun to sit at the counter and watch the chef’s cook! They have indoor seating with a bar and a nice outdoor patio dining area available also. We love to share a few tapas, salad and maybe dessert, if there’s room and their desserts are worth saving room for! They are always coming up with fresh, creative dishes – the Truffle Fries, Lamb Lollipop & Mediterranean Sliders are some of our favorites. The Sangria is delicious and service is right there whenever you need them.

My dear friend Anthony, drove down to Huntington Beach from LA to get together last night.
He took me to a restaurant in Huntington Beach that neither one of us had ever tried. The Black Trumpet Bistro.
It was a jazz-oriented theme. I’ve never had such a great meal in so many years. And as a retired Chef you know I’m a little picky.
I ordered the Coltrane which is their version of Filet steak au prove and Fritas. It was the bigest filet I’ve ever been served and prepared to a perfect medium rare. The only mistake I made is I didn’t realize they could also serve loaded baked potatoes and a great selection of sauted vegetables rather than french fries. Even if they were very good.
Anthony ordered his Italian pasta dish, that was awesome.
We both had drinks. Mine a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives that was perfectly made. They even knew how to rechill. For appetizers I ordered the French onion soup and it was delicious!
Just know that the final bill was damned expensive! With tip the bill Anthony paid was just over $300. I was soo grateful as I didn’t even have enough to cover the tip. Yet he made clear he wouldn’t allow it anyway.
It was probably one of the best dinner nights out I’ve had.
If you happen to be in Huntington Beach, definitely check this place out. It may be expenive yet well worth it. The free flan and NY cheese cake for my early B-day celebration was over the top. I highly recommend and 5 stars in my book.

In town for the #expowest2024 show and decided to spend the weekend in Huntington, Beach. Looked up of lots of places and landed on The Black Trumpet…I’m in the food business and travel a lot, so when eating out it takes a high level of execution to really get me excited! This place absolutely exceeded my expectations on every level! We tried a little of everything, and we were blown away….filet empanadas were absolutely the best I’ve ever had hands down! From the first course to dessert with a nice port, we were just in love! Service was impeccable and atmosphere was just perfect! So glad we made the stop, and it will certainly be my go to next time I’m in town!
