At our Murfreesboro, TN location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

When walking in, I waited about seven or eight minutes at the front counter to be noticed. I am short and the drive thru girl and gentleman cooking were working hard but the amount of laughter, loud talking and excessive loud behavior stemming from the women in the kitchen was INSANE! They were offering no help to the other staff and left us standing in the dining room with the busy drive thru attendant.
After a few minutes and a break from a busy streak, TT approached over from the drive thru and apologized for her co workers. They were clearly not concerned with customers their team or work for that matter. It really created a rowdy atmosphere for me and toddler that he referred to as “too loud”. Certainly not somewhere we wanted to sit and have dinner. The music from the kitchen was drowning out the barely audible music of “The Monkees” in the dining room. The boom was annoying and the conversations were unreal.
TT was polite, apologized again. She took our order correctly, efficiently and professionally. I expressed my apologies for her having to work alone essentially as her co workers goofed off in the side door. Visible to guests and heard outside I’m sure.
Our food came out promptly thanks to TT and the gentleman preparing the food.
The new general manager came out and asked about our experience and heard the noise and quickly calmed the team. He checked on our food and service. He was extremely professional.
After he left, the music returned to be LOUD but due to the time we ate inside anyway to get my toddler fed.
Because of TT’s efforts and the GM, we will return. But if the atmosphere continues with raucous, we will not return.
