I got a seasonal cheesecake for dessert. The online order form just said “seasonal” but I decided to take my chances with it and got a turtle cheesecake. The cheesecake was good. The size was a nice individual portion after eating pizza, but it did seem like $8 was a little much.
The service was again very friendly when I picked up, and my order was ready when they said it would be.
Even though the service and cheesecake were on point, the pizza was supposed to be the main attraction, and I was so disappointed by it that I’d give this visit 2 stars. The overall 3-star rating is because my first review was 4 stars, and I like to take an average when updating a rating after just two visits relatively close together. I would go back to see if this was a bad day or if the margherita is just not the way to go, but if I hadn’t gotten that much better pizza in the fall, there’s no way I would be back, at least for pizza, based on this visit.
Old review below:
Ordered a create-your-own pizza and tiramisu for takeout online. The ordering platform on their site was easy to use and my order was ready on time when I arrived to pick it up.
The pizza was fantastic. Since I chose the ingredients, I can take partial credit, but most of the reason it came out so good was because each of the ingredients added to the pizza was cooked so well. The roasted garlic, olives, and artichoke were all juicy and flavourful, and the caramelized fennel and onions added a particularly nice unique flavour. I really liked their crust, which was similar to a Neapolitan-style crust. Also, for a place not specialized in pizza, they have extensive and interesting topping options, and I also appreciated the option to do half-pizza toppings even on the small size.
The tiramisu was pretty good, but the chocolate sauce on it tasted kind of cheap. The online order item had the option to add your sauce of choice, and chocolate sauce was selected by default, so I left it, but I kind of wished that I ordered it with no sauce.
It was a little expensive, but good food. I would order from them again and hopefully will dine in sometime.
1. The place was empty when we walked in and it still took about 20 mins to seat us.
2. We ordered and the order was completely wrong. The calzone was incorrect and the “asiago” salad came out with Alfredo sauce for the dressing and about 10 shreds of asiago.
3. Server told me he was going to comp the calzone, which was already buy one get one free. We asked 3 times for this to be remade so I had something to eat. It took 2 hrs for him to put the order in and I ended up leaving with a to go box rather than eating a hot meal.
4. We asked for boxes and it took 20 minutes. My husband finally walked up to him to ask about my food and he then (after 2 hrs put the order in). This is after everyone else had dessert so it took that long.
5. He came with the check and gave us $20 off but $10 of that was the already free calzone.
6. We asked for a manager. She came out after another 10 mins and gave us another $10 off. Thanks for the seriously minimal discount when literally EVERYTHING went wrong.
Let’s add the following:
– Waiter had no idea where any of the meals or the drinks went so we had to pass them around.
– He never refilled a drink without about 3 requests.
– He kept completely ignoring us like, if he did not look at us, we would simply go away.
– The bill was put on the wrong tab so we e drd up paying extra for someone who had asked for an individual tab.
– There were no less than 5x we considered just walking out because it was taking so long.
– This was honestly beyond inexperience and incompetence because he actually lied to us several times stating he had already put the order in when he had not.
We were with our daughter, who is a server, and she said well, he may be new for the first 20 minutes. After over an hour, she conceded that it was simply bad service. If someone is new and being trained, so be it, but there should be a supervisor or someone assisting until they learn the ropes.
It was The Neverending Story of bad service.
By far have enjoyed both experiences, the sauces and the service where exceptional. Skip Osteria Ragu and dine here instead! Amazing food! ❤️
Food is good. Portions are small and overpriced. Good beer n wine selection. Our server was not that great. Brought out the wrong salads. Servers should have a dress code. DeAngelos could step up their game. Overall atmosphere cleanliness two stars.
