First time going to Starting Gate because B.I.G. was performing. This group is amazing and really gets people going!! I can see why people love this band. Starting Gate in Los Alamitos is a Sports, karaoke, live band, and restaurant party place, that we all wish we had. Closed on Monday. Karaoke from 6-8, then live entertainment. B-fast on the weekends starts at 8 am, and you don’t need much cash for the food anyway.

I love The Starting Gate!! This place is so special. On any weekend night, you can find a very nice mix of people in ages from 20s to 60s+, enjoying themselves, dancing the night away to excellent live music! We have been traveling up from San Diego since 2007 just to party here! 3 cheers for the Starting Gate!!

The food is pretty good here. I had chicken strip. I loved the band on Sunday and the line dancing. Staff is friendly but a bit slow in service. But overall it’s a great bar!

So as clubs open back up some open up with high risk safety factor concerns. As the Starting Gate they do not care about the safety of their bartenders or customers. All they are concerned with is packing people in arm pit to arm pit just so they can make money. They do not have a crowd control and it gets way to packed on a Saturday night, extremely dangerous and a high safety violation. No enforced dress code, they are short handed on waitresses so the poor waitresses are running like crazy, getting verbally harassed by customers for taking to long. Their bartenders get beat up verbally, its a mess. The owners just sit back or jumps into take a few shots. Get more waitress staff and do crowd control by number counting and get a line outside. Arguments and fights are common and this is a high safety concern. You took your time to open back up after the pandemic, took the stimulus checks and delayed opening and took the money why not open right with safety measures in place, hire plenty of staff to tend to customers, and do crowd control.

First time here for a Steelers game and a very great experience here. Service was great and the atmosphere felt as if I were in a bar in Pittsburgh. Thank you to the friendly people who organize the event each week. Truly a memorable place to cheer the Steelers!!

Recently went on a blind date in this pub/restaurant and I was nervous to say the least. My date was late and I had a feeling of loneliness digging deeper into my soul. I was pondering “Have I been stood up??”. Then the friendly and Handsome Italian barman ‘Paolo’ spoke to me while I was ordering my drink. He reassured me she will arrive while we waited and also gave me some anecdotes and pick up lines to use. She arrived! We shared buckets of beer and some French Onion Soup.
Great place for a blind date!!
