Our service was great. Waitress was on point. Short Rib egg rolls were awesome. We went for the Prime Rib special but they had no prime rib, replaced with a beef wellington. It was not good. Filet was overdone and dried out no flavor, and it was cold. For the price would have done better just ordering the filet and had it cooked medium, would have been cheaper. My husband who basically hates all vegetables thought best part of the meal was the grilled asparagus. The madhed potatoes were not creamy and you did not get enough gravy on them. Had to ask for extra gravy. Usually we are very happy with our meals at Back Burner. Will just stick to our usuals and the Prime Rib special when available. The beef wellington was a first for us n will be our last.

My first time here and everything was excellent. The food was delicious and artfully served. My mom said it was the best creme brûlée she ever had in her life. I loved the decor and high ceilings, it definitely added to the wonderful experience. Our server, Randall, was a delight.

Overall this was a decent spot for a weekday lunch. Our server was lovely but perhaps a bit overwhelmed. 2 of us had the shrimp risotto which we both though was more of a risotto soup with the amount of sauce it was floating in. That being said, the flavors were nice. I cleaned my plate. We were a little surprised that there were bread plates but bread was not served at the lunch service. They kindly brought out crispy flat bread chip type things.

We just happened to find this restaurant. It has now become one of our favorite places. Diana was one of the best waitresses and provided an amazing date night experience. She made the best drinks, gave the best recommendations, and outstanding service. Every bite was high quality and every sip hit just right.

I’ve been eating at the Back Burner for years. We usually stop in every month or two for the filet mignon lunch. It used to be $22, and then $24, and is now $26. Also the ingredients changed last year and we were very unhappy about it. The original dish was a filet mignon in Bordelaise sauce, with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and haricot vert (green beans). And if we asked for the diamond shape dinner rolls, we always received a few for free. Unfortunately, things have changed there. The filet mignon has now some blackberry sauce with frizzled onions and blue cheese. Who thinks these things up? And it comes with mashed potatoes and asparagus. If you want green beans, you have to pay an upcharge of $3! Totally ridiculous. No more rolls, they’re only for dinner. You get this lousy flatbread that you’re supposed to dip in oil, which is impossible. It’s really a shame, but I won’t be eating here anymore. The service is ok and the food is ok, but you can’t change anything without being charged extra. They really don’t care what the customer wants at all.

Delicious food and drinks! Apps are awesome! The beet salad, bacon wrapped shrimp and stuffed mushrooms are highly recommended and did not disappoint.
The entrees were on point as well, however something about the bread pudding was off and I would not recommend that.
Drinks were awesome! Cozy atmosphere!

Ordered dinner from the Valentine’s Day menu. My scallops were very good; however, my husband’s filet was overdone and chewy. Poor staffing on the part of management led to slow service (not the server’s fault). More importantly, please bring back the Patty Crusher!

I apologize to server DIANA for my mother-in-law’s behavior last week (you know the one—she always runs the servers and complains her steak was overdone). Diana and the young male manager handled it as graciously as they could. I am so sorry. As a former server, her behavior in restaurants mortifies me. I hope you all have a good year, full of new beginnings and hope.

This restaurant is nice. It is nestled in Hockessin, the service is excellent. The atmosphere is comfy, and has a nice ambience. The food is good and some is excellent. The menu is limited which I was not a fan of as it limits choices and pushes you to the much higher dollar main menu items.

Shrimp lejon was delicious as always. The lobster ravioli was disappointing. It was the special but no description of how it was to be prepared was offered. I have had many lobster ravioli dishes but they were always served in a cream or blush sauce. This dish was saturated in a soup of olive oil with spinach— so disappointing, especially for the $46 price point that was not provided before ordering!!!!
