Traveling through 1/19/2026 and wanted something more than the usual McDonalds, Burger king etc and per the on line menu looking great, we came here to give it a try. I want to first give proper kudos where it is due, the food is very good to be a small to go fast southern food Cafe. Food was freshly made, hot and tasteful and plenty!
Now, the one thing I absolutely despise in this new generation is lazy, unfriendly and unwelcoming work ethic. That is what was presented upon walking in and ordering. The 2 young girls at the counter obviously did not want to be there. No greeting. Just the look of annoyance because we were there to order food in a cafe. Not even a hello. But im gonna give one girl the benefit of the doubt. ONE may have been in training as she would as the other how to key in something so maybe she was doing her best… if so, please don’t let the other young female continue to train her. She was so unfriendly, so annoyed and on her phone. That alone, makes the whole experience go from bad to worst.

This was my second time eating here and this will be my last time. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and made it a meal for the extra $4. I must say the soda was cold and good. The chicken was clearly a breast that has cut into a butterfly breast and then looked as if that has been cut into half and the half breast then cut in half to actually make 4 pieces out of one breast. The chicken was thinner than the lettuce with chopped up onions not even close to the picture on the website. The breast was so small clearly NOT worth the $11. Even the fry portion was kiddy size and hard to chew. When I called the cafe to let them know the young lady that answered the phone was nice, but no one could tell me how many ounces the chicken breast should have been because clearly that had to be 2 ounces The chicken breast definitely have been cut in four portions. There was no flavor of chicken to taste only mayonnaise and vegetables. I definitely will not dine here again. If the chicken breast is this small try using a smaller bun because ordering a grilled chicken breast to only get a dry overcooked breast and taste bread, mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomatoes was not worth the $16 I paid. *****UPDATE 07/03/2025******

We stopped here for lunch to try something different on our trip and have regrets. The lady behind the counter took a while to acknowledge our presence but then told us the lunch special. Wife and I both decided for the lunch special; wife asked for no greens as the only change.
We were given cups but one of the fountain drinks were out. The wife went to the counter to tell lady the drink was out to be told it was empty and they were going to change it “in a while.” Wife asked if they could fill her cup from the fountain dispenser by the drive thru window. This was met by a sullen stare and then she took the cup and filled it.
Our plates arrived… and my wife’s plate had greens but no potato salad. She went up to the counter to have this remedied to be told by the same lady; “Oh, I must have forgot.” rather flippantly.
We sat down to eat and enjoy our food, and it was okay. The fish was hot, the potato salad was nice, the greens I enjoyed. When the lady sitting at the table next to us asked us to look at her chicken strip. She had just spit out a bite surreptitiously and held out the strip. It was raw. Not just under cooked but raw.
She showed the lady behind the counter and left. At this point we lost our appetite and left. We did get a to-go plate for the leftovers to give to the dogs.
And on a final note the folks working in the place were rather foul-mouthed. Obscenities was bandied about. “That woman just left. What do they expect?” etc, etc.
What could have been a good dining experience went sideways fast. Mostly due to the subpar service we received and saw others receive. The lady with the tattoos was not customer orientated nor seemed to care. That attitude certainly soured the meal. It was the worst meal we encountered on a six state road trip.

My mom & I ate lunch here yesterday. (4/11/25) She got fried the catfish platter and I got the blackens chicken alfredo. Everything was delicious.

Me and my husband ate here 2 weeks ago and we are finally getting over food poisoning. He ordered the chicken Alfredo and I ordered a child’s burger with fries. Everything tasted fine at first but we immediately felt ill after. My fries were old and stale I didn’t eat them anyways as I watched the cashier reach in with no gloves and grab a fry to put ketchup on. The lady in the back never had gloves on either. I could see her eating too so I guess they left me the stale ones. The waitress was kind and refilled our drinks. The ruckus in the kitchen was loud enough for the lobby to hear the language. The waitress apologized and I left her a 20. After succumbing to food poisoning we won’t be back and I will be calling the health department as well. Not one time did I see anyone wash their hands or wear gloves. Although convenient it’s unsanitary. Edit:: I’ve spoken to others who have also gotten food poisoning from this place. Great for Rayville but bad for the gut.

Starting off positive- the food was AMAZING! The sauce that comes with the chicken strips is phenomenal. The atmosphere was nice purely due to the other friendly customers in there. The service on the other hand. The waitress with curly brown hair and tattoos was terribly rude to the black man in front of us. My friend and I were appalled. She just treated us like a bother but didn’t act near how she did with him. This is literally the only review I’ve ever made because I feel the owner should know that the only reason I wouldn’t come back here is because of that! Seems like a common problem as well.

I wasn’t impressed with the food as it was too salty and the chicken tenders were partially fresh combined with one that was clearly cooked awhile ago. The patty melt was tasty and though a bit salty, was pretty good. The fries were good.
What was lacking was friendly service. The lady who took our order wouldn’t smile and never said hello or even returned my greeting. She acted like she was doing us a favor in taking our order. Maybe she was having a bad day, but the whole atmosphere of the place was just negative.

Food is good but not enough room to enjoy dining inside. Only tried burgers and catfish blue-plate special. Costly and small portions. Service is slow. I am happy to see another option for dining. Burgers were good, but the catfish was overly breaded and small portions. Couldn’t tell if I was eating more batter than fish. For a burger I may go back and maybe try the crawfish and shrimp. Overall a 3 out of 5 overall.
