Food was delicious! Fish tacos were so good and extremely filling! I only finished two… the free tortilla soup was also delicious! It wasn’t as hot as I expected it to be (temperature wise) but I didn’t mind cause I really don’t like my food too hot. The pizza was great as well! Tasty! It was definitely very loud with all the kids that were there dining with their parents! too much running around as well… a little girl ran with her arms swinging and smacked me in the head. the mom said ” oh im sorry, its ok” ummmmm no its not ok lol other than that, it was enjoyable

Great atmosphere, mediocre food

Atmosphere: I stepped in for lunch during the week. I was seated immediately in the naturally lit dining area. I was impressed with the decorations. It truly gave “summer house,” vibes.

Service: My server was pleasant and helpful! The bill is paid online; they have a QR code at your table for payment. That was convenient, but I took that to mean they don’t accept cash, which I was planning to pay with initially.

Food: My food came out within 10 minutes of putting my order in, which was a huge plus for me.

Appetizer: Wagyu Meatballs – 8/10
The meatballs were soft, slightly spicy and well seasoned. They had a minor unpleasant smell to them when they were served, but once I got over that, they were very enjoyable!

Entree: Shaved Mushroom Pizza – 4/10
The pizza was wood fired. The highlight was the crispy crust. As pictured, the rosemary leaves were generously spread onto the pizza, and it overtook the flavor, and texture. The rosemary leaves were crispy as well. It felt like I was chewing on tea. The center was quite oily and horribly seasoned (if at all.) I would not recommend this entree.

Bottom Line: If you value atmosphere over the taste of the food, you might have a winner here at Summer House Santa Monica.

Summer House Santa Monica was my lunch pick for my 50th birthday! The space is gorgeous and the food is delicious.

I chose it bc of the cookie bar and was pleasantly surprised by the food. It’s prob the best fish and chips I’ve had in Chicago and the mushroom pizza!! Oh my GOODness!!

The restaurant week brunch menu was simple but delicious! The mimosa pour was generous & the butterscotch pretzel sundae defied my expectations. Our server was super sweet

This is one of the few places to which I would give more than five stars. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch. It was very busy, and I could see why. Some places are popular because of hype or because there’s not much around. This place was fantastic and deserves its great reviews. I will definitely go back and will figure out a time that’s less busy. Luckily, we had reservations, so we didn’t have to wait. And they gave us a table that we wanted; they were so pleasantly accommodating. I didn’t expect the food to be so good, and now I want to try more. Other restaurants should take note; it’s so refreshing to eat at a restaurant that is all-around excellent. Thank you!

First time visiting. Decided to sit at the bar since I was dining alone for lunch. Natalie behind the bar provided impeccable service, and food was just as great!

The potato salad deviled eggs were simply to die for, and the spicy kale cedar salad is a perfect light lunch!

Great atmosphere, but that’s where it ended for us. The service started well, but all of our requests about the allergies and sensitivities fell on death ears. The Brussels sprouts were asked to be gluten and dairy free, which we were told is not a problem were brought in as regular. After we started eating, the server came back and told us that a new order would be made (we were initially charged for it, but after being this up it was taken off the bill). The nachos were asked to be provided without an avocado, which didn’t happen. The server never came back to ask how our food was after we got the main dishes. The fish I ordered was swimming in oil. Will not be back for sure.

Summer House Santa Monica is the best restaurant I have ever been to! Summer House provides a very pleasant atmosphere. As soon as I walked in I was welcomed with beautiful decor and I was immediately escorted to my table. The waiter that I had was very kind and helpful. I ordered the strawberry fields zero proof and it was very good. I ordered the Parmesan truffle fries and edamame for my appetizer. For my entree I ordered the rigatoni with red sauce and it was absolutely amazing. It is very fun to have a cookie bar with tons of options. I ordered the birthday cake cookie with ice cream and it was delicious! Overall, Summer House is the best restaurant in Chicago and I would highly recommend coming here.

I had an amazing experience at Summer House Santa Monica in Lincoln Park, Chicago! The atmosphere is bright, coastal, and perfect for a relaxed lunch or dinner in the city.

I ordered the gluten-free pizza, and it was honestly one of the best GF pizzas I’ve had in Chicago. The crust was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and didn’t feel heavy at all. The ingredients were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. You wouldn’t even guess it was gluten-free.

If you’re looking for great gluten-free options and a fun dining spot in Lincoln Park, Summer House is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back!
