We ordered “sesame steak” expecting it to be as pictured and described on their menu (see pics 1 & 2). What we got was deep fried mystery meat, and not in a Sesame sauce. We took it back and the manager said that’s how they make their sesame steak. I told him that it was not Sesame steak and he was just dismissive and said again that’s how they do it. I suggested they change their menu photo and description and he had nothing to say…we have been regular customers for the past couple of years but we won’t be going back as long as that manager is there and the menu can’t be trusted.

A beautiful place to dine. The food is delicious. The service is fantastic. During the day a full buffet, after 3 the main menu. Ask for William. His service is by far so fantastic and enjoyable.

I have been living down in Virginia for almost 8 months now and I have not found any good Chinese food. Until today I ordered the beef and broccoli lunch combo and it was phenomenal definitely would try them definitely will order again. Perfection!

Best Chinese food around. Prices are very reasonable here, and I haven’t found any place that comes close to the quality and flavor of the food here. Friendly service very clean and above average compared to other Chinese restaurants.

The food here tasted very fresh. This Chinese restaurant use to do a buffet, but I’m not sure if they still do. They didn’t have it going today. Our waiter was great. Very friendly and kept our glasses filled. The restaurant was clean and looked nice. I enjoyed my visit.

We went here at lunch time. Disappointed to find it was not a buffet. Was seated and the waitress, Mana was incredibly kind and attentive. She stayed on top of our waters and was nice to our kids. We ordered the crab Rangoon as an appetizer, the lunch special of sweet and sour and chicken lo mein. Our total ended up being $30.45. The crab Rangoon was hot to the touch when it came out. It was incredibly crunchy but the inside was cold and oily. Our meals were very hot. The lo mein had mushrooms which was unexpected. Aside from that the food was really good.

It has been a while since we’ve been here and won’t be back. The restaurant won many honors once upon a time from the awards on display but seems to have been on a long decline. The atmosphere is ok but hasn’t been updated in quite some time. The service was friendly and attentive. The food however was dreadful. The menu did not offer great descriptions or much variety. The portions were more than adequate but the taste was bland and uninspiring. Authentic Chinese food is too much to ask for in this area, but the food here wasn’t even good by americanized standards. I ordered the szechuan prawns which the menu marked as “spicy”. I’ve literally had table pepper that was spicier. The shrimp came breaded which I have never seen before and there was essentially no sauce. Additionally, no detectable Szechuan peppercorns which one would expect in such a dish. The other dishes we ordered were similar and could have been interchanged with noone the wiser. small portion of meat with very little seasoning lots of tasteless veggies. Just bland.

My favorite Chinese food. Every time I am in town I come here. The best chicken & Broccoli. The 2 servers do such a good job and remember me and my order.

Have not been to Szechuan at Ridgewood Farms in a long time and was disappointed they no longer have the tasty lunch buffet, but the lunch special was a great substitute. I chose Shrimp Lo Mein, which comes with fried rice and an egg roll. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of juicy shrimp mixed with the tasty noodles and various vegetables (carrots, green onions, celery, bok choy etc) The fried rice was acceptable and was more flavorful with a tad of soy sauce. The spring roll was crispy and a little hard to eat, as it fell apart with one bite but was still delicious! The server was very attentive and pleasant, providing excellent service. This is obviously still a popular lunch location for all walks of life. The lunch special was delicious and an excellent value. The atmosphere is uplifting and attractive. I’ll be making another visit soon.

Same good food and service.

Ordered the lunch special Moo Goo Gai Pan, which was absolutely delicious. Asked for no carrots, and my request was honored. The dish at lunch comes with rice and an egg roll, and the portions are very generous. The yellow rice was a tad bland, needing soy sauce to liven it up. The egg roll was excellent, crispy, and tasty. The hot tea was a real treat on a chilly day. The smiling wait staff were very congenital, and all our requests were met with positivity and promptness. I appreciate the offerings of a Light Special menu as well as a Light Lunch Special in addition to the regular Lunch menu.. I love this restaurant. The food is great, lunch is economical, it’s wheelchair accessible, the staff are friendly and accommodating, the menu is expansive, and the decor is beautiful. 5 stars!

Yummy! The lunch buffet is back! It began on October 1, and will be open at 11 am for lunch weekdays and Sundays also at a slightly higher price. My party and I arrived at 11:30am, and most of the buffet foods were somewhat cold, as the food had been out since their opening at 11, but there were no other diners until we arrived. By noon, the restaurant was packed, and the buffet was quickly refreshed regularly with hot food, so I recommend arriving at 11 or 12 for hot food. Most dishes were very tasty, especially the imitation crab covered in cheese. The crab was velvety and the dish so tasty I had another serving as my dessert. The hot tea was also a special treat. The fried crab ragoon filling was tasteless, and the beef with broccoli was tough, but I still throughly enjoyed the food variety and choices. The service was exceptional, with a very attentive server. Will definitely be back, and I’m so glad so is the buffet after all, these years!

It’s a shame to see how much this place has declined since COVID. They’ve stripped away the best parts of the experience: the buffet is gone, and they no longer serve their excellent homemade hot mustard. The remaining menu is fairly average and lacks the authentic Szechuan spark. With a quiet, somber atmosphere dominated by hospital traffic, it lacks the “neighborhood” feel it once had. There are better options in the Salem area.
