Thanks to the super staff that put a smile on a college kid’s face! Great lunch experience.
I was doing about a 10 hour road trip North when I asked my sister to find me a sandwich spot in Richmond I could stop at for lunch. She quickly found Coppola’s.
Upon exiting 95, Coppola’s is less than a 10 minute drive and is well worth it. It sits in a quaint, historic neighborhood called Carytown, filled with beautiful homes, shops, restaurants, and cafes. I wish I could have stayed for longer!
This was on a Sunday afternoon and I stopped in at about 1:30ish. I waited on a short line which was perfect to peruse the vast menu. I landed on the Industrial, which seemed pretty classic. It took about 7-10 minutes to come out, which I spent looking at the shop items, and memorabilia paying homage to its Brooklyn/Italian roots.
I did not choose wrong. This sandwich put a smile on my face for the remaining 6 hours of my drive. I loved the addition of hot and sweet peppers which is not something you see everyday on an Italian sub. The onions soaked up the oil and vinegar which made them impeccably tasty. And the bit of seasoning on top was what set this apart. Such a minute but thoughtful touch on a mound of deliciousness.
If you are in the area, don’t skip out on this spot. I can’t wait to go back to Richmond!
Ordered the Industrial Hero and a side of pesto pasta. Comes with Genoa Salami, Mortadella, Onions, Capicola Ham, Provolone Cheese, Hot & Sweet peppers, Lettuce, Tomato, Oil & Vinegar on a freshly baked roll.
Hero didn’t have a ton of meat on i and was tasty, but I wouldn’t call it the BEST in town.
Pasta was almost completely dry.
