I enjoyed the CHENNAI STYLE CHICKEN CURRY. Loads of spice and fluffy rice/Naan for accompaniment. Fish Tikka was moist and flavorful with perfectly grilled vegetables.
Can’t wait to return for dinner !!
One other nice surprise was the Indian Chenin Blanc I had with my dinner. Being a person that enjoys good wine, I tasted it and asked for food recommendations that would pair with the wine. I spoke to one of my mentors who is local to Williamsburg and he concured with my statement that the wine was a very good and unexpected find. They also have a good selection of Indian Whiskeys as well.
I usually don’t write this long of a review but do recommended this restaurant and will be going back next time I am in Virginia.
Parking is readily available and free. The staff is reportedly very polite, friendly, and respectful. The ambiance is described as colorful and decorative, evoking the atmosphere of India.
The restaurant offers a diverse and flavorful menu. Their cocktails are highly praised, with “bomb dot com” and “go guava gone” being particularly recommended. It is suggested that they have the best bar in town.
For appetizers, the chat of the day, samosa, chicken chili, and jalapeno cheese cutlets are all said to be amazing, with the chat of the day being a personal favorite.
From the main courses, I tried the fish tikka, butter chicken, paneer nizami, and paneer pakhani , with the fish tikka and paneer nizami receiving high praise. The lachha paratha is also recommended.
Overall, Masala Craft seems to be a highly recommended Indian restaurant, earning a 5/5 rating.
Our party of three ordered two appetizers and two entrees. The avocado chaat (chat of the day) was an explosion of texture and flavor. All three of us liked it a great deal. We enjoyed the paneer-stuffed naan but not quite as much as the chaat.
We all enjoyed the saag paneer and chicken tikka. Both were very flavorful. We ordered very mild with a bowl of spice on the side for me to kick it up a few notches. The chicken in the tikka was melt-in-your-mouth tender.
My wife really liked the pear specialty drink she ordered. The chai that our daughter and I ordered reminded us of the chai in India—without the disposable clay cups.
The service was attentive, very informative, friendly, and prompt.
We will definitely be back in the coming years during college visits!
On my latest visit, I started with the vegetable pakora, which arrived perfectly crispy with a light, well-seasoned batter. The lamb seekh bites were tender and aromatic, showcasing the kitchen’s skill with traditional spices. For my main course, the lamb vindaloo delivered bold, complex flavors—I ordered it at spice level 4, which provided that satisfying heat without overwhelming the dish’s depth. I finished with their kheer, a comforting rice pudding with just the right balance of sweetness and cardamom.
If you’re an Indian food enthusiast, you’re in for a treat. The customizable spice levels (rated 1-5) let you tailor each dish to your preference, and those with dietary restrictions will appreciate their thoughtful selection of vegan and gluten-free options that don’t compromise on taste.
Whether you’re a longtime fan of Indian cuisine or curious to explore it, Masala Craft Indian Kitchen consistently delivers outstanding food in a welcoming atmosphere. Our community is lucky to have a restaurant of this caliber.
We started with the garlic naan, and it was absolutely perfect, fluffy, flavorful, and fresh out of the oven. I ordered the Tikka Masala at spice level 3, and while it was definitely spicier than I expected compared to other places, it was still full of flavor and really delicious. My husband had level 2 and agreed it had more kick than we were used to, but in a good way. Our kids had the mild version and loved it. The rice was light, fluffy, and paired perfectly with everything.
What stood out most was the team-style service, rather than one dedicated server, we had multiple staff members checking in throughout the meal. It felt like we were well cared for the entire time. We’ll definitely be back!
