We stopped for dinner and Penny helped us. She was so friendly. The phone was ringing and people were coming in steadily but she kept up well. She gave our daughter some dough to play with. The pizza was AMAZING! I was born in Illinois and most of my family lives in Chicago/Suburbs so we’ve had a lot of Chicago style pizza and I have to stop when I see it advertised. I’m usually disappointed…I was not. If we lived in Sparta, I would eat here weekly. This is very, very good pizza. Really good quality. The sauce, the crust. It wasn’t undercooked or overcooked…it was just perfect. And the garlic cheese bread was amazing too!

Planning a trip to Sparta or Fort McCoy? This is it. This is the best food in the area, let alone the best pizza! The hand tossed pizza crust is simply delightful, all the goodness of soft pretzel, perfect dipping in the included marinara sauce made with fresh ingredients. And you want to talk options?! I tried just a couple* (check the pics) but the Mac n Cheese has all the cheesy goodness as can be expected in Wisconsin. All the pizzas are honestly just wonderful and you should stop reading reviews and get your butt over here!
Atmosphere is cozy! If you’re bringing a group larger than 6 please call ahead.

Great food, Friendly service, this is just a really great small business. Ive been stopping in for many years, when i find myself in the Sparta area. Dine in seating is limited, especially on fri,sat eve, but it suits it well, and really wouldn’t change anything about it. I wish I lived closer, I’d be a regular , I do forget how great this place is but I am ALWAYS glad when i stop. We were in Sparta for an event and pulled an audible and stopped in for dinner.. We [2 of us] went simple… 14″ pepperoni hand tossed, extra sauce on the side for the wonderful crust… and a side of hot giardinara instead of putting pizza peppers on. We ordered a 14″.. expecting to take box home it was sooo good, we ate more than we probably should have..only took home 2 slices…oof. [totally worth it].

This place is a phenomenal little whole in the wall. I tried the 12” thin crust gut buster, even though they’re known for deep dish, and I very much so enjoyed it. Sauce was perfect, crust was just right, and the beer was ice cold. Be prepared it is a bit hot inside. Service was quick, fast, and respectful despite the phone ringing every couple minutes.

I came in there asking for a Italian beef and I get handed a pizza. That was not what I asked for. I came there on a bicycle. How in the hell am I going to take a pizza home in a backpack. Your people should really listen to what people are trying to order and keep the music down enough so you can hear what people are ordering. This is what I’m stuck eating for dinner. REALLY

Excellent hand crafted pizza. Their marinara sauce is delicious. Try the hand tossed with extra cheese. Don’t forget the garlic cheese bread while you’re waiting for your pizza. Awesome little setting in an old house.

Update: meatball sandwich was amazing, best in the area. Pizza was amazing. Walked in 5 minutes before closing because hours weren’t updated on Google, but they said take your time. Amazing service and food..
(Post from 2019). Thin crust was good. Deep dish was good, but didn’t represent a Chicago style deep dish. In their defense we did show up 3 mins. before closing so they might have rushed it. Was pretty good pizza all around.

Dined In
Food:
I ordered BBQ Wings and Garlic Cheese Bread. The wings were normal, nothing special. They were luke warm, and took 45 minus to get. They serve with packet salad dressing (Ranch or Bleu Cheese). I think it would be better if they could put in a dipping cup. Garlic Cheese Bread was good. It comes with cold marinara though, major turn off for me. What I can say, is if you are looking for pizza, everyone who was in the resuraunt was raving at how good it was.
Speed of Service:
Slow. Took 45 minutes to get chicken wings. Every to go order that people came in, was late. The staff was apologizing to every customer.
Customer Service:
When I walked in, I was never greeted. No one ever even looked at me. Once I asked someone if I could dine in, then they escorted me to a table. The waitress was polite, but never asked me how my food was or came by to refill my drink. But she was polite.
Outside thoughts:
I like the sign, but the place doesn’t scream come in and eat.
Inside thoughts:
Only seats 25. Four two person tables, and two 6 person tables. Very small. No where for take out order people to sit or stand without getting in the way. Many military accolades on the wall for their support of the restaurant, I love it.
Likes:
– Simple menu & pizza looked fantastic
Dislikes:
– Lack of greeting upon entry, and slow service
Would I come again: No, put ill order pizza to go

Deep dish pizza wasn’t deep dish. Food was edible, nothing to write home about. Was really disappointed . Garlic cheese bread was a frozen product you could taste the freezer in it. Marinara sauce was disgusting, just a thick tomato soup, no flavor at all! Over priced for the food you get and no flavor!
