Reviews
I kept reading about Taj and how everyone kept saying the food is just wonderful! So, needless to say… I had to check it out for myself! I am a HUGE fan of Indian food so my expectations are quite high.
The restaurant is located at 5033 Brookhaven Road adjacent to the Walmart. From the outside, it doesn’t look like much. But, when you open the door, you’re welcomed to a freshly painted super clean restaurant. It’s actually quite large! From the outside, it looks like a small place.
Fun Fact: They just reopened after being closed for 5 months.
Vibe: It’s one of those places where you walk into and appreciate the aromas and feel that you just know that you’re in for a treat!
So, let’s eat!
What We Ordered: (there was 2 of us)
Chai = $4.99
If you don’t know what Chai is, let me explain. It’s a spiced black milky tea that reminds me of Christmas morning. It’s sweet and creamy. A perfect way to start or end an Indian meal.
Lunch Special = $16.99
Baingen Aloo (Appetizer)
Potato and Eggplant (Main)
Kadai Chicken (Main)
Chicken Tiki Masala (Main)
The good part about this special is, you get to try so many different things on one platter. Everything was freshly made and absolutely irresistible. They asked if we wanted mild, medium or spicy.
Everything was seasoned perfectly and super delicious.
Tamarind Chutney
Mango Chutney
Mango Yogurt Drink
The Total Cost of the Bill (Before Tip) = $47.48
Summing It Up:
This is a great place to go if you’re wanting to try something different in a warm and welcoming environment. Most people have never tried Indian Cuisine because they’re afraid it may be too spicy. I promise, ask for “mild” and that’s what you’ll get!
To me, Indian Food is comfort food. Indian people are incredibly proud of their food and rightfully so. You can literally taste the love they pour into their recipes!
Where should I go next?
Before pandemic, this was my favorite Indian restaurant. Ate here 3-4 times a month. Yesterday was the time I returned since covid. Lot has changed. No buffet. Prices have increased and portions are smaller. I wouldn’t mind paying more for the expected quality. I was wondering if the ownership had changed with the differences I experienced. Will wait about a month and try again. Everywhere has a bad day now and then.
Very expensive, ordered Onion pakoras$7/ 7 very tiny pieces, ridiculously over priced .
Bindi masala, very less okras, more of the cheaper veggies, totally not authentic either.
Aloo paratha was decent. Mango milk shake good.
No I won’t go again…we are from Atlanta and certainly expected much better.
Passed through their kitchen, not clean either.
