This place has a pretty cool vibe, food was honestly phenomenal – perfectly cooked and flavors people travel for, no doubt. Not your regular bar food. I would definitely come again!

There was only one problem…. Normally I give servers the benefit of the doubt, normally the server will come around if you’re waiting for a while and give an update. I kid you not – we sat nearly 45min before the appetizers were out, and another hour before the food was out….

We showed up early at 4:30 to get the ribs, by the time the waitress took our order the ribs were already sold out. Anyway, it definitely wasn’t the norm because multiple larger tables around us ordered, ate and left before our food even came out.

But hey, it came out hot and good so the place still gets 5 stars.

Server was very one star – .

4:30 sat down
5:17 appetizers out
5:51 ordered
6:40 food out
6:50 asked if we want boxes
6:56 brought checks out

The Fairplain Yacht Club is located at 3869 Cedar Lakes Dr, Ripley, WV, near the livestock barn and Fairplain racetrack.

A great place to hang out, visit friends or just relax and enjoy some really good grilled and smoked foods.

My wife had the Korean BBQ Burger with the restaurant’s fresh made potato chips and pickle spear. It was a burger of the month in 2024. And I had the Big Bang Burger, this month’s burger of the month for 2026. It also came with the same chips and pickle spear as well.

We ordered the burgers cooked medium. 8 oz of grade A cow meat cooked to perfection. Both burgers were shared between both of us and we just looked at each other and nodded our heads in approval. So good and messy (a good messy) I was constantly wiping my fingers and beard.

Kudos to the chef/cook/grill guy or gal. Whoever you are, you done exceedingly well!!

If you’re in the Fairplain WV area and you don’t stop by, you’ll miss a diamond in the making.

Thanks for the eating experience.

Fairolain Yacht Club Did Not Disappoint once again… their food is great. Very clean inside, waitress very nice, bathrooms very clean, lots to choose from on menu and today they have ribs after 4pm…once again we missed the ribs but we will make the next visit later in the day or on Friday evening for Prime Rib

Returned in 2023, still great service and a warm inviting environment. Burgers were good, but we didn’t like the appetizers we ordered.

Got the Jameson and the Barnyard. The sauce in the Jameson is really good. Got the hot cheese balls since they were noted as a favorite on the menu, they were on the firmer side. Cheese substance was unappealing. Got the onion rings, very lackluster; on the negative side was the tartar sauce, it came out room temperature.

2021 visit review: Got the Bavarian, Going Down in Flames, pickle burger, onion rings, fries, and two kid meals.

Burgers were flavorful and cooked exactly as requested.
Disappointed the Going Down in Flames used pickled jalapeño slices.
The Bavarian is exceptionally well salted, too much for me, but I am guessing the amount used is good with a majority of people.
The pickle burger, while unique, didn’t particularly standout in any manner.

Great service, inviting dining environment, and clean restaurant. The prices were on the high side compared to similar establishments in greater WV, PA, and MD area (cost and quality) else I would give this place a higher rating.

We went there with 6 of us. The food tasted good and fresh, mainly standard bar and grill food but with some interesting variety on the menu. Our waitress was nice and attentive. This is definitely a good place that seemed laid back. I would recommend eating here.

We had dinner there tonight. For the first time ! The entire visit was just great. The best waitresses and hostess ,,,, so pleasant, Accommodating , friendly. We felt like old family friends. Our food was fantastic,,, the best steak house burger cooked perfectly. Homemade onion rings. and we split the hot fudge brownie desert,,, the proportions were huge and the atmosphere was amazing,, laidback and just a nice place to hang ,,, Tim had wings and homemade chips and Landon had a steak , fries and salad. Cooked to perfection ,, we will be back. ,, Our service was just great I forgot to get our waitress name ,,, but we discussed the deserts and I explained strawberry pie to her

Sports bar environment… we were at the cattle sale all day so we decided to grab a bite to eat here and it was great food. Burgers weren’t frozen and were cooked to perfect medium. Waitress was really nice and attentive (even though they were a bit busy with the game on).

Burgers are HUGE so don’t order a lot of appetizers. Was a bit bummed to see they no longer offered rings of fire, but the great burger made up for it.

Will definitely eat here again the next time we are selling cattle in this area.

Wonderful place to eat! Great food, great service, great atmosphere. We went on a weekday during lunch time so it wasn’t very busy and there was no active entertainment but we still very much enjoyed ourselves. Great wings, great fries, flat bread pizza looked great, and burgers were wonderful. The fried pickles were also a great appetizer. Highly recommend.

The food was absolutely amazing. Our surfer was fantastic. The atmosphere seem like it would be a great place to be for a good night out. What really got me was the Arnold Palmer’s. I could have drowned myself in them. I don’t know what sweet tea and lemonade brands they use but they have it nailed!

Place looks a little run down but is clean. Service was great. If you’ve never been here before, try the smoked wings. Holy moly! I’ve tried wings from 50 different places over 30 years. These wings are in my top 3.. maybe overall 1. I’ve been thinking about these wings since I ate there on Saturday lol.
