Went there for the first time tonight with my wife and kids. Got a large cheese pizza. Tasty thin crust with a little flop in the center. My youngest is picky and she loved it. Will be back again! Also they were pretty busy on a Thursday night yet service was good and food came out quick. We looked over at the neighbors table to see how the food looked and everything looked delicious.

This place serves up excellent food, and our wonderful server, Cindy, made sure we received great service throughout our visit.

For appetizers, we had the Roasted Gorgonzola Chips and Calamari Rings, which came with a tasty homemade marinara sauce. For our entrée, we shared the Penne al Basilico. Everything was absolutely delicious, with generous portions.

What a great place! We’ll definitely be back!

So close to hitting it out of the park. I had the lasagna, an order of meatballs, and a caesar salad. The main was presented well but wasn’t very hot. It tasted good and with a bit better presentation and better heat, it would’ve been perfect. The meatballs were thrown into a dish and served. Again, it cheapest the meal. The bread was terrible, that’s the real reason for the 4 stars. This place could be a perfect and exceptional Italian restaurant if it would just get over that 90% effort rung that seems to hold back many restaurants. One more thing…fix the tables. Nothing worse than wobbly tables.

2/7/26. Dinner for 5. Very unhappy with the food. Ordered Lasagna, cold in the middle which made it uneatable. Wife ordered pasta and stuffed shells… Felt the same way….. Ordered 2 orders of bread pudding for dessert…. Always thought bread pudding was supposed to be at least warm……not cold……only plus was are server was attentive and nice…. Took a couple of friends their for a nice dinner….after dropping $150.00 this will be my last time at this establishment. Too bad, not the first time it has not been as good as it’s been in the past few years…..

Tonella’s was recommended to us by a CT ex pat who comes from a family of restaurateur’s in CT and NYC area so he knows a good pizza. That being said we have had some great pizzas over the last two years, the problem comes with consistency. About every 3rd order is just not good to bad… I make the same order every time so I know it can be great but it is a gamble. I have called to let them know when the order was bad on three separate occasion over the last couple years and while they have acknowledged it, they have never offered to correct it in any way. We do the same order ( 2-5 pizzas depending on guests) each time… ” med cheese, extra sauce, extra cheese, fresh garlic, burn it” and ” large meat, extra sauce, extra cheese, add mush and onion, burn it”… 2 out of 3 its great, good flavor, nice crust, not a lot of flop, cheese and toppings are browned… great pie. The other times, not only is it not well done, it is barely cooked, soggy crust, cheese not even melted all the way, let alone brown and bubbled. Last nights was bad enough I decided to go ahead and add a review. We spend between 70$-200$ an order and when its good, it’s good enough that we are willing to roll the dice on the next order… just wish it wasn’t such an expensive gamble.

Ordered a large calzone to go. Okay well it was HUGE. Now I know why it was $20 ha. We barely put a dent in it. My son and I enjoyed it. It had way more mozzarella than we are accustomed to, so next to me we will ask for less mozz, more ricotta.
It was delicious otherwise and the dough was perfectly made and cooked.
The staff was joyful and fun to interact with while ordering and picking up our meal.

Tonight was our first time visiting. We went after a co-worker recommended it. I can’t believe we waited so long to try it. Everything was great. We were greeted promptly. Our server was great. She said she’s been there for over 6 years, which shows they take care of their people. Their pizza looked amazing, but we had pasta this time. I had the baked penne, which was excellent. Prices were fair and good portion size. We will definitely be back!

Great place for a casual Italian dinner. Wonderful service and even better food! Had the calzone and a custom pizza both were delicious. Also got the brushcetta amd garlic knots but they were gone before I could take a pic.

Excellent food and service with a really welcoming, peaceful environment. The staff is always so friendly and happy, and happy staff says a lot about the way a place is managed in my opinion. I live in Charleston but my friend has a lakehouse in Lake Murray and every time I visit we make sure to go here. We were there last night and are about to order take out right now. I highly recommend checking this place out!

Seated quickly and service was efficient. Ordered pizza, garlic knots, eggplant parmesan and the salmon. Food was good, (pizza just a bit greasy) and (salmon was a bit overcooked) and eggplant parmesan was very good. Overall good enough to return. Fun watching chef toss the pizza dough.
