Convenient location with good food and fair prices. I really liked the decor and was excited about the menu when I first walked in. The day that I visited (a Monday), it was busy but not full.

The only thing lacking was the service. Perhaps my server had a bad day (it happens), so I’ll definitely try them again. The food was fresh. My breakfast burrito was good with lots of meat. However, the salsa was bland, and I would have liked sour cream.
I could have asked for it if my server would have came around, but that didn’t happen.
They do have spirits here and video lotto.
there is a lot of parking options!
The staff were great and the food was out quickly!
I’ve only ever been here for breakfast but I have never been disappointed!
The portion sizes are great and the quality of food is amazing!
I highly recommend! The jam is fantastic (of course)

This has been my favorite place since the first time I went here just over a year ago. Yes, they have amazing breakfast, but all their other food is delicious as well Husband says their biscuits and gravy is one of the best he has EVER had. Quiche, omelets, frech toast, waffles, all scrumptious! Also great salads, sandwiches, etc. Pretty much can’t go wrong. It’s a small place and popular, so depending on timing, you may have to wait to be seated, but it’s worth the wait.

Toast and jam is the best restaurant I’ve been to in a while. The coffee was excellent, the creamer dish was never empty and my coffee cup never was empty because the wait staff check the tables frequently. I had top sirloin steak and eggs with pancakes.the pancakes were absolutely perfect as well as the steak and eggs, the steak was so tender I couldn’t believe it. My wife ordered egg’s Benedict and fruit and everything was wonderful and very fresh. Very nice atmosphere and the owner and waitresses were so nice we are anxious to visit again. South Salem has a real gem of a restaurant and we are happy that we discovered it! Five stars across the board!

I wish I could be more positive. Our first visit to Toast & Jam wasn’t great, mostly due to the waitress, but we decided to give it a second chance. The second time around, things were better-the waitress was kind, and the food was pleasant.
We revisited on Sunday, 11/23/25 and ordered a smoked salmon skillet to split, along with a side of bacon and two coffees. When the killer arrived, we couldn’t find or taste any smoked salmon at all. We saw no pink in the dish of Salmon. Some of the country potatoes were sliced in a way that could make you think they might be salmon, but there was no pink color anywhere. As a retired restaurant and chef owner, I’m very familiar with how smoked salmon looks and tastes, and after thoroughly going through the dish, there was none.
This was an $18 plate, and despite the menu clearly stating it’s served in a skillet, it arrived in a bowl. They offered to remake itm but based on past experiences in the industry, I’m always hesitant to send food back due to potential frustration or relalationin the kitchen, or simply receiving a sidh that still isn’t prepared correctly. we just finished our bacon and coffee and went to pay,
At the counter, the chef who I believe is also the owner insisted he had prepared the dish himself an that salmon was included. To me, that was simply not the case. He also mentioned the apology, but it did not feel genuine.
Another note people should be really aware of is they charge an additional 3% if you use a debit or credit card on top of you bill. This was not communicated, and We didn’t notice any clear signage indicating this policy. That’s sneaky in my opinion. Many people probably would not notice this.
Not seeing the pink of salmon nor tasting it then being charged extra for using a card, left the whole experience feeling a bit fishy in itself.
My suggestion to the owner: Place that beautiful pieces of salmon on top of the dish so its visible. You can always see the pink even when smoked. We wont be returning and will be going back to other places in Salem who take pride and don’t try to repoff customers.
Oh by the way my fork was totally dirty with food crusted on it and had to ask for another one also.

Waiter that sat us down was nice.

the lady took our order and got our food ready to bring it to our table, she scooped butter to put on top my French toast it fell landed on the the counter she then scooped it back up and continued to put it on my food!!! Then looked back at me to see if I watched her do it!

Food was not good this time around was only my second time going to this restaurant.

Also the cook was watching and staring at my son and my bf and I as we were eating like we did something. Was jus a weird vibe

My wife and I had the pleasure of coming into this cute little spot and what an experience!

I love the low warm welcoming lights, music going that doesn’t drown anyone out and the food is unbelievably good.

The French toast especially the cinnamon roll one was super good for the sweet tooths and I really enjoyed the country fried steak myself.

I recommend anyone to try this place out

One of South Salem’s hidden gems! The people who work here are happy to work here. Fresh flowers that smell amazing right at every table. And the food is incredible. Great for families, gamblers, friends, and singles. Dining is wheelchair accessible. Parking is accessible. Not great for large groups though as the restaurant is fairly small. Can seat a party of 6 comfortably, but probably no more. Serving alcohol including mimosas, spiked coffee, beer and cocktails

This is a nice small little restaurant tucked in the corner of a busy strip mall. Parking is a little busy and spots are small, but there is a lot of parking options! The staff were great and the food was out quickly! I’ve only ever been here for breakfast but I have never been disappointed! The portion sizes are great and the quality of food is amazing! I highly recommend! The jam is fantastic (of course)!

I don’t want to say awesome and great because it’s my favorite place to eat recently and I don’t want it to be busy when I’m there. lol. Bit selfish I know. Very good waitresses and food is marvelous. Can’t say it enough.

Walked in and was hopeful because we were seated quickly, but then we sat. And we sat. 15 minutes passed and the server never gave us a menu, the waitress never acknowledged us. Multiple servers were standing idly talking to each other, a few times making eye contact as they glanced at our table. We left without ordering since no one ever came by the table. They even saw us get up and didnt even acknowledge us leaving. A business that ignores customers gives me little faith that the food is any better. The atmosphere felt unwelcome. Never going back.
