ABOUT TOAST AND JAM Owners, Dave and Debi Odle have worked in restaurants since their teenage years. They have started three restaurants from the ground up, but this is the one they are most excited about. At this point in their careers, being fans of food, eating out and the industry in general, this restaurant is their dream and are excited to share it with you. Almost 100% of the food at Toast and Jam is made from scratch. Dave makes the jam himself! Dave and Debi are both hands on in the daily operations and service of the restaurant. When you stop in you will see one of them, or one of the many loyal employees who they were able to bring with them from Chalet Restaurant, which closed due to Covid 19. Dave and Debi pride themselves

The only thing lacking was the service. Perhaps my server had a bad day (it happens), so I’ll definitely try them again. The food was fresh. My breakfast burrito was good with lots of meat. However, the salsa was bland, and I would have liked sour cream.
I could have asked for it if my server would have came around, but that didn’t happen.
They do have spirits here and video lotto.
there is a lot of parking options!
The staff were great and the food was out quickly!
I’ve only ever been here for breakfast but I have never been disappointed!
The portion sizes are great and the quality of food is amazing!
I highly recommend! The jam is fantastic (of course)
We revisited on Sunday, 11/23/25 and ordered a smoked salmon skillet to split, along with a side of bacon and two coffees. When the killer arrived, we couldn’t find or taste any smoked salmon at all. We saw no pink in the dish of Salmon. Some of the country potatoes were sliced in a way that could make you think they might be salmon, but there was no pink color anywhere. As a retired restaurant and chef owner, I’m very familiar with how smoked salmon looks and tastes, and after thoroughly going through the dish, there was none.
This was an $18 plate, and despite the menu clearly stating it’s served in a skillet, it arrived in a bowl. They offered to remake itm but based on past experiences in the industry, I’m always hesitant to send food back due to potential frustration or relalationin the kitchen, or simply receiving a sidh that still isn’t prepared correctly. we just finished our bacon and coffee and went to pay,
At the counter, the chef who I believe is also the owner insisted he had prepared the dish himself an that salmon was included. To me, that was simply not the case. He also mentioned the apology, but it did not feel genuine.
Another note people should be really aware of is they charge an additional 3% if you use a debit or credit card on top of you bill. This was not communicated, and We didn’t notice any clear signage indicating this policy. That’s sneaky in my opinion. Many people probably would not notice this.
Not seeing the pink of salmon nor tasting it then being charged extra for using a card, left the whole experience feeling a bit fishy in itself.
My suggestion to the owner: Place that beautiful pieces of salmon on top of the dish so its visible. You can always see the pink even when smoked. We wont be returning and will be going back to other places in Salem who take pride and don’t try to repoff customers.
Oh by the way my fork was totally dirty with food crusted on it and had to ask for another one also.

the lady took our order and got our food ready to bring it to our table, she scooped butter to put on top my French toast it fell landed on the the counter she then scooped it back up and continued to put it on my food!!! Then looked back at me to see if I watched her do it!
Food was not good this time around was only my second time going to this restaurant.
Also the cook was watching and staring at my son and my bf and I as we were eating like we did something. Was jus a weird vibe
I love the low warm welcoming lights, music going that doesn’t drown anyone out and the food is unbelievably good.
The French toast especially the cinnamon roll one was super good for the sweet tooths and I really enjoyed the country fried steak myself.
I recommend anyone to try this place out
