Out of a whim I decided to try out this Luigi’s pizza shop. This place gives that old school feel with the interior lights and seating , they have a buffet that was closed for the day , a crane machine and small toys . I was greeted kindly and placed my order . The containers of parmesan cheese was kept in the fridge . The calzone had a different flair but VERY tasty . Think graciously oiled pizza pan that created a slight crispyness you would get with a deep dish pizza but thinner , very fresh and great ingredients and folded over , coated with garlic butter and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese.
The gentleman that was there was very kind and even though my order was small he checked on us and kept the conversation light-hearted and going reminiscing of older times. Their red sauce was like something I would imagine on spaghetti. It was cut into more strips than I’m used to , though it makes it easier for those that may have problems with chewing .
We dined in and ate our food inside. The atmosphere reminded me of local pizza places growing up in the 90’s. Everything was clean and it was quiet due to it being a slow Saturday afternoon. The staff were wonderful and kept our drinks filled up. It was a wonderful experience and I hate that I waited so many years to try it. Despite it being 20 minutes away from me I plan to eat there regularly.
I give Luigi’s Pizza a 5 out of 5 and consider it one of the best pizzas in the Oklahoma City area. Out of my favorite local pizza places in OKC it is the most affordable. I didn’t get to try the buffet but look forward to checking it out.
I was very curious what the actual temperature was. It was 81 degrees!!! So, I proceeded to snap a photo of the thermostat. Eighty-one degrees is absolutely unacceptable, especially with an open salad bar. I will call the health department In Oklahoma City when I get a chance tomorrow.
When I left, I told the employees that they should file a complaint with OSHA. I worked in the kitchen of a restaurant when I was younger and I’m well aware that if it’s 81 degrees in the lobby, it must be at least 90 degrees in that kitchen. That’s simply cruel and not a safe working environment for everyone. Not everyone can tolerate extreme temperatures like that. I can’t. I never expected to endure torture to have a few slices of pizza. I don’t know why this restaurant has the air system TURNED OFF and keeps it in a locked plastic case, but if it’s to save money or something, this isn’t the way you do it. Don’t eat here unless you enjoy eating your food in a tropical environment or want to catch some kind of bacteria from the salad bar.
