Southbank Original Barbecue is located right along the beautiful Fox River in downtown Yorkville. We offer meaty favorites such as pulled pork, wings, drummies, ribs, and so much more. I liked everything about this place, plenty of parking for all the Jeeps, sat at the bar and our bartender was a sweetheart. Drinks were good, the burnt ends were so good. The pulled pork was delicious and the mac & cheese too. I wish I was closer, or I would visit often!

Omg! Can I just say how impressed by the new ownership, atmosphere and food!! I haven’t been here in a while because I normally only come for shows on the back patio. Today I was pleasantly surprised with all of the Christmas decorations:) The bartender Aiden was outstanding. He was always on top of taking care of us. I was meeting with a friend that I haven’t seen in years and he really made our night special. The haystacks were outstanding! I’ll be back very soon! Thank you for a wonderful evening!

I usually go to Southbank in the summer for the patio, but stopped in during the winter for the first time ever. Aiden, who was bartending, was so accommodating when I asked to modify my food order. It was decorated so beautifully for Christmas too. My friend and I tried their apple pie shots which were awesome! I always thought this was just a summer spot, but I’m happy to learn they are open all year around.

I was familiar with Southbank BBQ mainly for its outdoor patio during the summer months, but since the new owners, Dawn and Ted, took over, the place has changed dramatically—in the best way. The food is absolutely delicious, and they’ve brought so much new energy to the space. From added events and live music to their pop-up dinner menus, there’s always something fun happening, and it’s exciting to see what they cook up next.
The staff is consistently friendly, and I feel genuinely welcomed every time I walk in, which is why I keep coming back. Dawn and Ted are almost always there, engaging with patrons and making everyone feel at home. Their soft table touches and hands-on presence really stand out and are so refreshing to see in a restaurant. That level of care and hospitality truly sets Southbank BBQ apart and keeps us returning again and again.

I was lucky enough to catch a pop up on Wednesday serving tacos and enchiladas, the sauce was amazing. Just spicy enough.
The service was friendly and prompt!
The refills on my soda happened magically (I love that)
And it was a really inviting atmosphere, clean and kid friendly.
They were pretty busy and everyone seemed to be having a great time visiting and enjoying dinner and drinks together.

If you haven’t gone to Southbank in a while go check it out! The inside has been redone and now feels like a cozy neighborhood hangout complete with festive holiday decorations. The menu has been revamped and the food is delicious! The portions are perfect size! The chili and the pork boat are fabulous!

We have stopped by for drinks a few times but last night was a whole different experience. The EDM night was unlike anything we had experienced there in the best way. We got to talk to the girl who was DJing (there was also a man DJing as well) and she was so kind to us and did an incredible job! The variety of music was wonderful and the atmosphere was amazing! Would love to see them back more often!

Had an amazing meal at South Bank Original Barbecue! I tried the chili with meatloaf and it was incredible — so flavorful, hearty, and perfectly made. My boyfriend went for the mac & cheese with pulled pork and he absolutely loved it. You can really taste the care and quality in every bite.

Nice place to take the whole family. Clean and friendly atmosphere. I had the jerk chicken sandwich that was cooked perfectly. Not spicy at all but a little sweet with the cheesy potatoes. The quesadillas were an appetizer and very large. Large portions with good prices.

We had dinner recently for their birria pop up event. I got the quesadilla and my son got the tacos, both of which were full of flavor. My quesadilla had plenty of meat on it, no small portions here. I took half of it home and it was even tastier the next day. Our server was very attentive and kept refilling my soda without being asked which was so nice. I like that they have a window into the kitchen too. It’s always nice to see where your food is being prepped. We’ll be back!
