If you asked me 1.5 years ago, this would be an easy five stars. But having been here twice, I had two wildly different experiences. The first was perfect — the food was delectable, it was served efficiently, and the waitstaff was accommodating. However, the second time we visited most recently, the food was not near the same level of quality. Some of the dishes we loved previously had changed for worse (e.g., the fish and chips) and service was SLOW. We waited on our food for a very long time and spent hours more at dinner than we expected. Not sure what was going on, but the party I was with left not wanting to ever come back. I would give it another chance as our first experience was phenomenal, but the inconsistency did raise some concern.
I love the concept of this restaurant and the atmosphere is truly fantastic for people interested in the farm-to-table, garden style of the place — but I would need to visit again to determine whether this is truly worth the time and money, or if it was a one-time fluke.
It was private, a bit romantic with the lighting. They provide nice fleece blankets to get cozy with in case the heat lamp isnt enough.
I say “lucky” bc it seemed we were “out of sight out of mind” to our server.
We ordered an appetizer, and after 40 minutes waiting for the brussel sprouts, our server popped her head into the gazebo to let us know it should be out very soon and that she was going to knock some heads together in the kitchen, or something to that effect.
15-20 minutes later all of our food came out. Appetizer and entrees.
Ok fine.
The appetizer was barely warm, and the butter on my husband’s steak had a plastic wrapper around it. My husband said the steak was grisly, and tough- very tough to cut with the butter knife that was provided. Needed to wait to eat it, bc a steak knife was not provided by food runner. It was a $60 “NY strip steak.” The value didnt seem there for what was brought to him.
When we brought the plastic wrapper to our servers attention she took it from the table, and that was the end of it. No manager coming to “touch the table” or anything. We ordered dessert at approximately 745pm, at which point the server made a point to thank us for our patience.
We never saw her after that. My husband had to go into the restaurant to pay the bill after waiting an additional hour.
We left at nearly 9pm.
As a former server, I understand what it means to be busy on a Saturday night, I can normally “write things off”.. but it seemed as if she just kept forgetting about us.
Overpriced for the quality, with bad service.
