Pi was born in Winchester in 2014 from a simple idea and a big dream. Following a stint working in a Florence pizzeria, first-time restaurateur Rosie Whaley was inspired to serve simple, exceptional and honest food in a vibrant atmosphere you’d want to return to with your family and friends time after time. The Pi artisan dough has been perfected by our team of Italian chefs and the secret recipe involves up to a 72-hour fermentation process, resulting in a light and lean base with airy crispy crusts; perfect for our innovative, creative menu combinations. We pride ourselves on working with hand-picked specialist producers in Italy and local UK independent suppliers.

First of all, we were been allocated to a table that was placed in place that we did not really fancy and the team worked straight away to accommodate our request to sit somewhere else, if possible of course. They were all very polite and smily, and then we cannot really say much about the pizza, it does not deserve comments, just go there and try it as it’s gonna be remarkable! Little spoiler alert: the pizza chefs are both from Italy, because YES, it makes the difference. Grazie ragazzi, see you soon.
The first waiter we had was ok and friendly but when he went for his break another one took over. Not one single smile, looking over at us like he was looking down at us(sorry we were having fun) speaking to colleagues about us right in front of us which made us feel uncomfortable. if you are going to offer bottomless brunch you need to be prepared for laughter, some loud conversation if it’s a big group. And actually look like you want to be there, not making people feel uncomfortable.
When the food came the pizzas were not good at all, the toppings were awful, and most were missing ingredients that were on the menu and the bottoms all burnt so we didn’t end up eating most of the pizza. One pizza had chilli’s covering the whole thing. We asked for some dip and were brought garlic butter which was then added to the bill.
The conservatory window sills were very dirty and only one toilet for a whole restaurant ?
The cocktails were very nice though.
Maybe we just had bad luck with the rude staff on duty and the chef but the restaurant was empty so they should be grateful for our business . I wouldn’t recommend unless they change the staff and chef
Sadly the meal was a bit of a disaster as they had new staffing in place. We had to wait 40 minutes for our drinks to arrive, and it took an hour and a half for our food.
The couple next to us were also very hungry as they had to wait a considerable time to receive their food. It was a little sad to see so much food go past in Just Eat bags as we waited.
As we had to wait we ordered a bottle of red, which was really warm.
This was the first time we had tried this restaurant and were really surprised as to why the meal was such a farce.
They were very kind and took things off our bill, but had expected more. The pizza was tasty, but quite felt that the salt content was quite high.
We will try again and hope that next time things go better.
There also a range of non-pizza options that one of our group tried and enjoyed.
