We each ordered a teishoku set (beef, curry chicken, karaage chicken and chicken donburi), and honestly, everything about the experience stood out. For approximately $30–35, the teishoku is incredible value. Every component was outstanding — from the sashimi and salad to the tofu — each small dish was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious.
I also loved the ordering system, where you can order directly from a monitor at your table. Service was professional and efficient, and our food arrived within about 10 minutes of ordering. The portions were generous and very filling, yet the food was so good that we couldn’t help but eat everything.
This was our first visit, but it certainly won’t be our last. The atmosphere is great, though it does get quite busy — a testament to how popular it is. If we lived in Newcastle, we’d be here often just to work our way through the rest of the menu. A fantastic dining experience all round.
Other than that, food was served quickly and portion was huge. Will come back again when feeling hungry.
Food tasted good as well.
Atmosphere was good. Music was not too loud and we could actually chat during the meal.
The staff were very attentive and friendly. Since it was our first time dining there, they kindly showed us how to place our order using the iPad, which made the process easy and seamless.
Our food arrived quickly and everything was absolutely delicious, definitely worth every penny.
We ordered two teishoku sets: Salmon Teriyaki and Beef Yakiniku, along with a Katsu Donburi and a side of chicken karaage.
All the dishes were flavourful, well-prepared, and generously portioned. Highly recommended! ✨
I had black garlic tonkotsu and my wife tried the shoyu. We were both very satisfied with our ramen for flavour, quality and quantity.
The noodles were perfect and the Ajitsuke Tamago (ramen egg) were the gooiest and most flavourful we’ve ever had in ramen.
I’m consistently impressed by the quality of the ingredients. Whether it’s the fresh, generous portions of sashimi in their bowls or the perfectly prepared katsu, you can taste the dedication in every bite. The Teishoku sets are a personal favorite, offering a beautifully balanced and nourishing meal that truly feels like a taste of Japan.
Beyond the delicious food, the service is a standout. The staff are always friendly and accommodating, and their passion for what they do shines through. It’s clear they take pride in creating a wonderful dining experience for every customer. Meshiya Japan is the kind of place you’ll want to return to again and again—a truly satisfying and value-for-money Japanese meal that’s a step above the rest.
We had the Teriyaki chicken and Katsu don Teishoku set, which I thought was pretty banging for the price. Plenty of side dishes with the main portion being more than sufficient. Only fault I had was the salmon sashimi that came each set it didn’t taste too fresh.
Would recommend highly to check this place out for great value and great tasting Japanese food, especially for Newy
