We really enjoyed our meal here. The ingredients were fresh and the food was authentic. We had the baked feta as an appetizer and shared the island tomato salad and the Shepard’s plate (mixed grill). The lamb on the mixed grill was amazing but the chicken and steak were a bit overcooked for our taste. The lemon potatoes that came with the mixed grill were lovely. The Retsina white wine was very nice. The service was good and the atmosphere was quaint Greek cottage.

We decided on eating near our hotel since we had not been to Great Barrington before. Aegean Breeze caught my eye because I was in the mood for Mediterranean food and the reviews seemed to be pretty positive about this place.

We were greeted right away and sat down in a back room with only two other people. Eventually the room and the restaurant became very busy and we were glad we sat down when we did.

We both started with the Avgolemono soup. It had a good taste, but there was not basically no rice in it. The portion size is good.

For the main courses, I had the Chicken Souvlaki pita wrap. I was very disappointed with the lack of flavor. Normally the chicken is bursting with flavor from being marinated in Greek spices, but this was very tasteless. Luckily the tzatziki sauce helped provide a little bit of flavor as I tried to finish the pita wrap. It was accompanied by “fresh cut” Greek fries. These were basically nothing more than potato chips, and once again they lacked flavor. At least they were crispy.

My friend decided to try the Santorini Style Casserole. He chose the Seafood Santorini, made up of shrimp, scallops, and mussels in a homemade tomato sauce. While you can see from the photo that the dish looks beautiful from a presentation standpoint, there was no flavor to it. The sauce was bland and seemed like it was out of a jar. They must have left out the garlic and onion because you couldn’t find a hint of it anywhere. There also was way too much sauce and everything was drowning in it.

He did have the Mediterranean rice as a side which was not too bad. The pasta shells that he ordered came smothered in the same sauce as the casserole, and again seemed to smother the pasta.

This is probably more of a tourist trap type dining establishment since there are not many options nearby, and you need to eat. As for the service, our waitress was doing her best, however it seemed like they were very under staffed for how busy the restaurant was that evening.

We had very delicious grilled octopus here! The Greek salad and lamb kebab were tasty as well (lamb a little tough). The food felt simple but well-seasoned and authentic. The host and waitress were attentive.

We loved the quaint house vibe of the restaurant. They had a big outdoor patio as well but it’s got a little too cold now. However, there were very nice flowers on the outside of the building.

Update: 10stars – We come a little more often these days and they are so consistently fantastic – we also eavesdrop on other people saying “wow what a great lunch” etc – so we know we are right! This is a definite stop – eat – drink – enjoy, so much love for this place, these people and the delicious food they share w us!
Love this place, we come up for a “Berkshires day” once in a while, to eat here and hit thrift shops – the apps and spreads are fantastic, I love th spanakopita and moussaka so much it’s hard to try other things and the lemon potatoes are so the avgolemono must be amazing too (lots of things I want to try, a really good sign)

Once again, this wasn’t my first choice (or even second) when I was picking a place to dine. However, I was pleasantly rewarded for not being able to go to the three other places I had in mind before finding this one.

I arrived towards the end of the evening but was still met with exemplary service. The food was pretty awesome too.

I ordered the Jumbo Sardines on a whim, and I wasn’t disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend them to many people as that fish tends to be very heavy and somewhat fishy. What I was not expecting was five large fish on my plate, just begging to be devoured.

Both the stuffed grape leaves and the tzatziki appetizers were done in the most perfect manner I could hope for.

Despite how amazingly tasty the food was, I found a few of the prices to be higher than I would have been happy with ($10 for an extra side of rice or pita). But other than that, everything was super fantastic. I really enjoyed the lemon potatoes on the side.

The baklava for dessert was able to hit the spot well.

Next time I go back, I think I’ll try the spanakopita or maybe the kabab.

The food is delicious, cocktails are well made and the service is friendly. The prices are a little higher than some of the more casual options in the area, but worth it. My wife forgot her phone at the table when we left. We called to see if it was there, and showed up a few minutes later to get it. A nice woman who is either a manger or owner ran outside when we pulled up and gave us the phone without us having to even leave the car. She was also checking out tables while we were there and made sure the staff was being attentive. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the area.

We enjoyed the meal. Don’t hesitate to stop here for good food. We are used to Greek restaurants in Lowell, MA and so are probably measuring too strictly against those experiences.

I came to this place for the first time and was not disappointed at all! Came for dinner time with my girlfriend and loved all of it. Food is very fresh, well seasoned and well prepared! Also a must try is the grilled octopus and grape leaves appetizers, I will definitely come back here if I’m in the area again. Pictured is the lamb gyro and the moussaka with grilled veggies, delicious!
