Treebeards is always awesome. I don’t work downtown anymore but am always looking for an excuse to eat here. Mondays, at this location only, they have my favorite Gumbo, Duck with Trinity and Okra. I took advantage of already being downtown and got an extra Quart to-go. The Red Beans & Rice with Sausage links are always great, so I had to get that as well. I finished up with The Chicken Fried Chicken with Cream Gravy, Dirty Rice and Macaroni and Cheese. Don’t forget to get plenty of the Fresh French Bread. Nice to see the long time staff after many years. I can’t wait to go back!

This was my first time here and I must say the food was well prepared and delicious. I had the chicken fried chicken with rice, gravy, and some veggies. The chicken and veggies were absolutely tender. When I say the veggies were tender, they were not hard when I ate them. At the same time, they were not soft, but cooked just right. The rice was cooked very nice and consistent. It was right on time. I’m definitely going to be back. Cheers!

First time getting the chili and lemon cake and OMG, both were delicious! Next time, I’ll ask for easy rice in my chili because they put a little too much, but other than that, it was great. Would definitely go again! Sorry about the pics. I didn’t have my phone at the time, so I had to take pics after I ate some of the food.

Great home style food.
Very disappointed that I was lied to for a year and only today a thoughtful staff member told me that the regular red beans and rice has sausage juice in it when I was previously told it’s vegetarian. Staff need more education on what constitutes vegetarian diet so that they can cater to various dietary restrictions correctly.

I love their chicken fried chicken, squash casserole and mashed potatoes and white gravy. The yellow cake with chocolate icing and the carrot cake are just like grandma’s.

I’ve been out of the energy business for a very long time so have had no reason to travel downtown. I can safely say that after 15+ years, the food is STILL superb at Treebeard’s in the tunnel. The chicken & sausage gumbo paired beautifully with the jalapeño cornbread. It was like popping into a time machine to go revisit some culinary bliss!

Delicious food, great spot in the Downtown Tunnels. The fried chicken was seasoned and juicy!! Loved the gravy. The red beans and rice were flavorful and the added piece of sausage is a must. My coworker tried the chocolate cake and it looked amazing!! I’m definitely returning soon on my lunch break!

Me and a couple guys from work have went here several times for lunch. The food is good and even with long lines it goes really fast. If you want a cajun style meal that’s quick this is the place to go. Come try the gumbo and the corn bread l.
