Good food. Good Haitian food. I took a friend who I introduced to Haitian food a couple of weeks ago. He loved this place even more! The presentation was really nice. Really good food on these cool looking afro-caribbean looking plates. The red beans and rice were so good that you didn’t need put sauce on the. The Gryot was so just right that I kept eating some of it even though I was full. My friend had the fried Chicken. None breaded. Tasty as heck. Some people like to put sauce on the chicken… But we both thought it didn’t need it. I was really pleasantly surprised by the macaroni and cheese. Cheesy with a hint of some other flavors that complimented it well. I was only going to taste a bite but finish the whole thing. My friend is insisting that we go back again so they can try other dishes. The host/owner? Really took her time to walk my friend through the different types of Haitian foods and preparation…this was a patient and very warm touch… which made him feel very welcome. Oh, I forgot to mention that we shared some oxtail. I really liked the flavor. I am saving this location and going back again. With more friends and family. If you’ve never had Haitian food… This is a friendly and delicious place to start.

I had the Bulgur with spinach (Lalo and blè) at Tati Jo’s, and it was absolutely delicious — perfectly seasoned, fresh, and full of flavor in every bite. The dish tasted homemade but elevated, the kind of food that makes you feel both satisfied and cared for. On top of that, the customer service was outstanding: friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Tati Jo’s is the kind of place where the food and the people make you want to come back again and again.

Tati Jos in Franklin Square, NY is a true gem! As a lover of Haitian cuisine, I was blown away by the authentic flavors and warm hospitality of this hidden treasure.
From the moment I walked in, I felt like I was in Port-au-Prince. The aroma of rice and beans, fried plantains, and grilled meat filled the air, transporting me to the Caribbean.
But what truly made my experience special was the exceptional care taken by Tati, the owner. She treated me like family, ensuring that I had everything I needed and making recommendations to enhance my dining experience.
I ordered a variety of dishes, and each one was more delicious than the last. The Akra (fried malanga fritters) with fried plantains was crispy perfection. The Taso (fried meat patties) and Griot (braised beef) were tender and full of flavor. And the Haitian black rice with stew chicken was a masterclass in comfort food.
Tati’s attention to detail and genuine warmth made all the difference. She checked in on me throughout my meal, ensuring that everything was to my liking. Her passion for Haitian cuisine and culture is evident in every aspect of the restaurant, from the decor to the music to the incredible food.
Tati Jos is a must-visit for anyone looking for authentic Haitian cuisine in the Long Island area. The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the food is simply delicious.
Don’t miss out on this gem – go taste the flavors of Haiti at Tati Jos, and experience the warmth and hospitality of Tati herself!

Bad experience! We took our American friend to this restaurant to try haitian food for the very first time and it was very disappointing. Only one person working in the kitchen and as a waitress? The wait was unnecessary sooo long . We asked fish in sauce ( steamed) she gave us fried fish ?! When we told her abt it she stated we can just put sauce on it. The black rice was horrible ( duri a red , no peas , no flavor) We really had a bad experience and I would not recommend. Our American froend was very disappointed and did not enjoy it. They need to improve on the customer service.

The staff and owners were friendly and engaging and happy to help us decide what to order. We were treated like family even though we were visiting for the first time.
I had the whole snapper with creole sauce and black rice and my wife had the chicken with creole sauce and yellow rice with peas. Starting with a huge fresh salad that we shared and ending with a complimentary slice or two of traditional cake, every part of the meal was a delicious treat.
The whole red snapper was cooked to perfection with herbs and thinly sliced peppers and onions and floating in a plateful of rich, fragrant sauce. The rice was piled high on its own plate and served with fried plantains. It was all accompanied by a small side bowl of spicy-hot relish made with pickled cabbage and scotch bonnet peppers. The chicken my wife had was tender and juicy and served with the same creole sauce.
The food was absolutely delicious and what made it more special was the obvious care and love that went into the preparation and welcoming way that it was served. When people really care about their food and share it genuinely and generously, it draws you in and brings real happiness.
Thanks so much for a perfect meal!
