I expected more for 4.6 stars. Not very clean 🙁

They trickle out the sushi as it’s ready, which is awkward for the 1 person eating in the party who has their food.

We ordered Fried noodles for the kids. Not very tasty. Too much ginger/pepper.

Teriyaki bowl didn’t have much sauce and was ok overall. The chicken was plain and didn’t have any sauce on it (sauce was on rice, plain chicken places on top) but at least the plain chicken was good quality.

California roll, half of the pieces were missing portions of rice as shown on my pic.

Crunch roll was ok.

Had quick bite with an old friend during the evening time, mid week. Always a nice place to go to if you need your sushi fix or just want assorted Japanese food. Osaka, is located in Mission Valley, right off the freeway. My favorite is the Teriyaki chicken. My only gripe with this dish is the chicken to rice ratio. Lots of rice, small portion chicken.

Food is still good as with service

Parking’s a challenge and parking stalls are tight

My partner and I went here cuz I wanted Yakisoba and she wanted sushi. The atmosphere was killer. The service was fast, like super fast. The only ding on service was not asking if we wanted another soda. Diet drinkers always want more. Diets numb the stomach while simultaneously delivering a crisp bubbly bite that washes down our food and sets up the next bite. So, in this case the diets were in can form, idc how many I gotta pay for, it would be nice if I was asked if I wanted another. I am used to this kinda oversight so if you drink water, disregard my rant (totally drinking a diet rn). The sushi was about 20 bucks a set. Pricy for just “ok”. Yakosiba lacked noodles compared to let’s say Dao Fu on Adams. Apps were good, really liked fried shrimp. Overall just ok. Total was like 90 bucks after tip. Other places with a better rep are a tad cheaper. Wish this place the best tho. May even go back to give it another try!

Solid Japanese cookery. Service was efficient, that’s it.

Some highlights:
Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura. Light and airy but also satisfyingly crisp. Well done.
Deliciously fresh with a nice crisp texture. Seaweed Salad is all that.
Perfect example of a Rainbow Roll. Fresh fish atop just the right amount of rice and crab. Couldn’t be happier with this.
Shrimp Tempura Crunchy Roll. Good tho I wish it didn’t have cream cheese.

Don’t bother:
Crunchy Roll. This was gross. Salmon and tuna were so fishy I almost spat out the first bite. Avoid this one at all costs, not good.

Otherwise very good and next door to Soapy Joe’s!

I couldn’t believe I haven’t reviewed Osaka. If you want pretty good Sushi + bento box + edamame that doesn’t break the wallet, this restaurant is where you should eat (especially when you have a big group). Dragon roll, Osaka roll, Shrimp tempura were all good. Service is very good, quick, and friendly too. Definitely recommend this place if you’re in the area.

Probably one of the best sushi spots and definitely the cheapest! Such great value for incredible sushi! This was my fist sushi experience in 2003. Quality and care go into the food. Never have had a roll fall apart. Can’t say enough.

Been coming here for 20 years.
You’re not paying for decor. It is casual.
The sushi is excellent and at pricing that is a value.
Family owned and the staff are wonderful.

Continues to be some of the best handrolls we can find for the price. They stuff these ones and don’t cheat you on the amount of fish or the flavor. We have gone to more expensive places and they have been terrible. We have been to other places that exclude the veggies and put too much rice. Don’t bother with the other rolls because we have tried them and they are only okay. The handrolls will keep you coming back again and again.
