It is located across from the Historic Confederate Square in Downtown Gonzales. It has a nice down-home vibe. We offer an extensive menu that caters to almost any gathering, be it a co-worker lunchtime, family celebrations or a date-night component that you won’t find in many towns this size.We host live entertainment, such as music, and we have a back patio that can be rented out for parties. Let me tell you about the humble salad bar salad to go that has absolutely stolen my heart — and my lunch breaks. For $6.50, this thing is hands-down the best deal in town I’ve discovered since working in this little town.
Everything was fresh (like crunch heard across the room fresh), and the staff? Amazing. Friendly, quick, and probably wondering why I keep coming back.
And when I say coming back… I mean twice today. Yes. Twice. It’s that good. Plus, it’s only steps from my job, so really this salad chose me. Go figure, lol.
Moral of the story: Don’t sleep on the simple salad bar. Sometimes greatness comes in a to-go container

I have given this place multiple try’s and every time it’s mix but the last two times I went was such a disgrace. Under new management place is a dump took my family here for years. Since this new management we have gotten terrible food. The environment is terrible and not what it used to be. The waitress I had the time before my last needs to get a new attitude! I have never had such rude and lazy service. We have always had good service with the young man who serves amazing and always helped us when we had issues with our food. Sad to say we won’t be coming back. Will miss taking a road trip down to the m with the family.

Had 3 different waitress so who do u tip when u only see each one 1 time.. then a table with just 5 people the cooks sucked. They brungout on dish at a time.including the sides. It got to hepoint where we said forget everyone’s two sides and left after 2 hours of waitinf for food. Even after they said we’re out of amost every side. Get new cooks

This is a great hole in the wall joint. The service was excellent. The chicken fried steak is one of the top 5 I’ve had. The fried mushrooms were fantastic. I did not really care for the mashed potatoes as they tasted like baked potatoes. Yes, you can taste the difference. Perhaps add more cream. If that is my only complaint, then they are doing something right. As a person who does not drink booze, I appreciate the separation between bar and restaurant. I’m definitely coming back.

the kitchen team seems to have it together and knows more or less what their individual responsibilities plus all together kitchen responsibilities are.
I asked for medium rare and boy did I get it !
I am not sure who the Young Lady with the tattoos is that was keeping an eye on orders, but thank you Ma’am.
The bar service is decent and leaves a fair amount to be desired, but could be worse.
Cutting folks off before they get drunk would be a plus a lot of there customers become noticably tipsy and I’m not sure if the bar staff just hasn’t noticed or if it is “one of those” regulars that have already got the owners okay to enjoy. Unfortunately quite a few places like that in this town.
The waitress do what they can working with what they have so I can understand why they are the way they are. They make it work and I hope they know their hard work is noticed !

Hubby and I were so glad to have dined here. He ordered a steak and Inordered the fried gizzards and the boudin. The Gizzards were yummy. The batter was flavorful (not just salty) and the gizzards tasted fresh (not old, like it had been in the fridge for long), thus, it’s not rubbery and didn’t hurt my jaw (and teeth). Perfectly done. I didn’t like the boudin though. It is not as flavorful as I expected (having had boudin in numerous places in Texas). The place and ambiance is great. A very relaxing and enjoyable place to dine. The place has a bar which was just too high (as the seats appear to be short in height). Overall, we love the restaurant and definitely recommend it. We will definitely be coming back.

First time eating here. We were celebrating two birthdays. The server was very nice and brought out our drinks and appetizers quickly. But wow was that food bland. I’ll tell you, I was flabbergasted. Salt, pepper, Tabasco and A1 sauce couldn’t save those meals. Very pleasant restaurant vibes though.

Food was pretty good and actually better than expected. Waitress wasn’t bad just not really friendly. We got the bill and waited for the change. Gave her $60 and should have gotten back $20. We waited and waited. She brought to go boxes but no change. Hubby finally got up and went to restroom. I looked for her and she was at the bar on her phone. She finally looked up and came over and I asked about our change. Her attitude totally changed and she got puffy. She went and brought back the $20 and walked off. My hubby asked for 2 $10s. She brought it back and was going to walk off. He gave her a tip. I guess she thought she deserved the $20. Made no effort to return it until I asked. I think that was totally uncalled for expecting that much. Also, they had a girl in the back jot ironing her hair. She was in the area behind the salad bar area. Needless to say I was a little shocked by her doing that and especially where she could be seen. Might go back but hopefully don’t get the same waitress. Not sure management knows what is going on but I thought they needed to know. Also, had to ask for refills, etc. Maybe, she was having a bad day. Actually, like someone else said nobody greeted you or told you to seat yourself. Maybe y’all need a sign stating that to guests coming in.
