I really wanted to give this place a high rating. The service was lovely, and the food actually tasted great at the time. My friend and I ordered the oysters and lobster, and we enjoyed the meal.
However, the aftermath has been a nightmare. We both suffered from severe food poisoning immediately after. My friend is still running a high fever as I write this. While the staff were nice and the food was tasty, the freshness of the seafood is clearly a major issue. It’s just not worth the health risk.

We had a really enjoyable lunch in Cadiz on George Street. The food was excellent, muscles were in a standard white wine sause however they added some sherry just to give it that extra Spanish flavour and it was so good. The cod with a bean broth was also so tasty.
We started with a cocktail and then had a bottle of very reasonably proved wine.
The service was great, the waitress was very attentive and also helped with the menu (one ingredient I did not recognise)
We were there mid afternoon on a Sunday and it was very quiet, I am sure there would be more atmosphere in the evening but it was still very enjoyable. We will definitly be back.

Amazing place! Great atmosphere and a very helpful waitress, Tush. The food was excellent — thank you to the chef for the best seafood. We celebrated my mom’s birthday and you all made this evening so special!

We were trying to find somewhere in the city for good Scottish mussels, I think we found some of the best ones. Cadiz used STUNNING Shetland mussels with shallots, sherry, parsley & cream and they were not only huge but tasted super fresh and sweet! We both went for fish mains, the cod which was incredible with the cassoulet and bravas which paired stunningly and also the halibut which could be one of the best fish dishes I’ve had in a long time, fresh, creamy, balanced so well! Highly recommend!
We also had a Pina colada which was perfectly sweet and coconutty, along with a amaretto sour (which I requested extra sour) and it was truly spot on!
The service was also fabulous looked after from start to finish! Highly recommend!

Amazing food! We celebrated my dad’s birthday here, the manager there is very helpful and happy to help us and serve us their specialities. This is a proper seafood restaurant that serves fresh and tasty seafood. You will get the value of everything you paid for, this is the kind of resraurant that really deserves 5 star, from the staff, food qulaity, and most of all the experience. Not sure if we will be able to go back since we’re just on a vacay but definitely will recommend!

Update January 2026 – Cadiz continuing to set a high standard. Another lunch – a selection of small plates this time – goats cheese croquettes, prawns with sobrasada, whitebait, calamares, salad and sourdough with paprika butter. All delicious and whilst we didn’t need it, shared a tarta de queso dessert.
Went for lunch using an Itison voucher for the ‘VIP’ menu of 3 courses and a cocktail. Good choice on the menu, friend is coeliac and staff were helpful with what was gluten free or could be amended. All the food was delicious and well presented. Decent wine list. Friendly service.

Came up from London to visit my sister. You get plenty of choices on the menu but … 99% is seafood
The mussels are excellent and so are the scallops. Lobsters are okay too. Unfortunately paella is only available on Sundays.

Chose to visit for my birthday and was left disappointed, it’s overpriced, the food was very average, my surf and turf had no garlic butter and the prawns were overcooked and plain, the Service was slow we had to ask for menus after ten minutes because staff forgot despite the restaurant being half empty. Really strange atmosphere, it was dead despite being on one of the busiest streets in Edinhurgh on a Friday night. Overall one of the more disappointing meals I’ve had out in Edinburgh for a long time and wont be back
