No bark, no smoke, no texture and certainly not low and slow, unless you count the hours wrapped in foil, warming in steam. This is a local dive bar that happens to have warming trays with meats, but don’t expect “bbq”. Not a single local had a plate, just tap beer and conversations. There is also an excellent, walled & covered smoking area, which has games and tables. Inside, the hot boxing blows straight inside so it has a good dive bar ashtray aroma, but no “inside” smoking.

Big Earl absolutely delivered on tasty BBQ, great service and friendly atmosphere! We were three sisters looking for great BBQ and we found it inside the Fireside Lounge with Big Earl. Tried the brisket, chicken wings, burnt ends, and ribs – all were tender, juicy, and smoky. With the potato salad, cornbread, and greens as sides – everything was yummy, and our server (Big Earl) couldn’t have been more personable and a delight to meet. His food stands on its own, but the easy, friendly bar atmosphere makes this a perfect meal experience that will scratch that BBQ itch! Thanks Earl! ( and save room for the key lime pie!)

After watching the food channel and seeing a restaurant in Palm Springs smoking meat I was craving good brisket , the restaurant after doing a quick google search had unfortunately closed , however I stumbled upon this place

So glad I went as I really enjoyed it and after wards I continued reading about Earl’s , turns out he was the manager of smoke tree which had closed . Pretty amazing that food I craved on the tv I basically got to enjoy it after all

Thanks Earl

Took 2 large brisket and 2 large ribs to go. Absolutely delicious! The portions are huge. Earl really cares about making his customers feel welcome and obviously takes great pride in the food he prepares! The large cups of bbq sauces were absolutely delicious as well. Would highly recommend!!

I was vacationing and had a craving for BBQ. We looked up a couple different places, but decided to try out Big Earl’s. Glad we did.

Big Earl serves his food inside Fireside Lounge. It’s a local joint cause it’s not in the touristy area. We went on a Saturday night, so it got pretty busy and service was minimal, but friendly. Food and drinks are ordered separately.

I had ordered the pork belly burnt ends and the brisket while my friend ordered the chicken sandwich with fries. Unfortunately, Big Earl ran out of brisket, so I ordered the ribs. I’m not mad at it because everything was delicious. The ribs were so tender you could slide out the bones. The chicken was juicy and the fries were crispy and well seasoned. The burnt ends were a little too saucy for me, but it was a good portion so I didn’t mind it.

Overall, I would go back. The food was delicious and priced well. It must have been a popular night for the brisket, so I’ll have to go earlier to make sure I get some next time. I would think about ordering to go if you have kids or want to be comfortable.

We were in town for the weekend and looking for some food near our hotel. We didn’t plan on BBQ but we saw the other reviews and couldn’t pass on the chance to stop in. They were not lying.

We had the pork burnt ends, sausage, brisket and some potato salad. Everything was better than the last. The burnt ends had the perfect texture and flavor, the sausage was very juicy and a little spicy, the brisket was fantastic too. We were stuffed by the end but had to take some to go as our midnight snack.

To top it all off, Big Earl himself serves you with a beaming smile and the delight that you are loving his food. We will definitely be stopping in next time we are in town.

Best Barbecue I’ve had outside of Austin, and maybe just as good. The brisket is cooked for 12 hours, doesn’t need to be cut with a knife and doesn’t even need sauce (he has excellent KC and Texas sauces). Really delicious.
The ambiance on the other hand is very, VERY dive bar. Airport lounge from 80’s with bad lighting vibes.

Was excited to try this BBQ joint because I really miss Smoke Tree BBQ. When I arrived, there were multiple people smoking cigarettes inside the restaurant. I immediately left because of this, and will not return.

I am willing to adjust my rating if I am given an explanation as to why this was permitted, and assurances that it will not happen in the future.

Edit: received an explanation from the owner. I walked in through the parking lot, and apparently that is the back, and it is a patio. It felt like I was inside since it was pretty dark and there was a roof, but I admittedly didn’t stick around to investigate further.

I will temporarily change my review to a three until such time as I visit through the front entrance and will fully re-evaluate the restaurant at that time.
