Visited here last week to try some authentic Italian food. I can’t say I was completely overwhelmed but it was in fact very tasty. The venue was incredibly busy, so clearly very popular but a little too cramped and packed for my personal dining preferences. The service was attentive considering how busy they were, we just struggled to get attention to pay at the end and needed to loiter with intent at the till. I would look to visit again, have another explore of the menu at a quieter dining hour.

For starters we ordered Foccacia, it was a plain Foccacia, thick and soft bread but very bland even with balsamic vinegar.
For Mains we ordered Lobster Ravioli and Bolognese. Thought the Lobster would be in some type of pasta sauce, not oil, was nice though but small portion (which to be fair it was that nights’ Special).
Ordered fries on the side, too much parmesan for our liking. Couldn’t finish it.
For dessert, we had Lemon cheesecake and Apple Crumble. Too much berries on both desserts than lemon and apple. Custard was watery and not like thick custard texture. Apple and crumble ratio < berries.
Sadly it was not what we expected it to be from looking at the reviews, we are disappointed.
Apart from the meal itself, the customer service and atmosphere was lovely. It was busy in there so they must be doing well but it wasn’t for us, sorry.

Good service good ambience. Good quality food but lacks taste. Ordered seabass….but no sauce which can bind flavours of fish and veggies. Ordered Tiramisu again very fresh but no wow factor in terms of taste as too sweet, and not enough punch from coffee n liquor

The food was impeccable, genuinely don’t have a complaint about the food. The service however was very slow. We waited 35 minutes between starter and main, it wasn’t even busy and then it took them 15 odd minutes to bring the bill over. My only complaint. Food was great.

Went for dinner one weekday evening. Enjoyed our food and would return. Service was good and friendly but did take a little while to get the bill as it got busier as we left. Would return.

We were shown to our table, and our orders were taken, and then it seems we had been forgotten about. We ordered the foccaia bread to start so the preparation time was minimal however it was 30 minutes before this was served, it lacked flavour and there was not enough dipping oil. We asked how long our mains would be and we were told 10 minutes. About 10 mins later a different waitress came and asked if we had been served and we asked again where our food was. The waitress apologised and said she would find out, she came back and said it would be 10-20mins, and after waiting roughly another half an hr, our carbonara and pizza was served. Neither should have taken this long. The carbonara sauce was oily and my pizza was very stodgy and doughy and was only cooked properly around the edges, it was not a thin stone baked base that I would have expected from an italian food place. It was also only about half the size of what I would call a standard sized pizza, but I only managed to eat about a 1/4 of it. And there was the hidden 8% service charge which I hadn’t realised until we had left. All in all a dissapointing experience, below average food and sub standard service. I will say the surroundings are nice and the layout is good, although we had asked to sit at a different table but we were told that they couldn’t move us, Ive no idea why as there were plenty of empty seats. Its a nice looking restaurant and it has quite a varied small menu but offered a decent choice. I dont know why we had such a bad experience today with all the glowing reviews but I wouldnt make a point of returning.

What a find! Stumbled in off the street and had a delicious, affordable lunch! Halloumi sandwich was perfect, would highly recommend! Tables were a little close together, slight “crammed in” feeling which probably would be no bother in summer but was a slight pain in winter when everyone has big jackets/coats.

I booked a table three weeks in advance for my birthday for 8pm. On arrival we were told it would be “10 minutes” and that we should get a drink at the bar. The bar area was extremely small and already busy, yet our group of seven was left standing there for over 30 minutes while staff repeatedly walked past us. When we asked for updates, we were told the table was “just finishing”, yet other similarly sized groups were seated before us. At no point did anyone apologise for the delay or offer to compensate the drinks we were encouraged to buy while waiting.
Once seated, the service continued to be poor. One starter involved a gluten allergy; staff asked who at the table had the allergy, and my friend put her hand up. A plate containing the allergen was then placed directly in front of her. Luckily, she did not eat it — this could have caused a severe allergic reaction. The server later returned with more starters and made a rude comment along the lines of “that’s what I meant by asking about the allergy”. One starter also arrived around 10 minutes after the rest of the table.
For mains, I ordered steak rare, which arrived clearly medium-well, noticeably more cooked than a friend’s medium-rare. It was replaced without much fuss, but by the time it returned one main still hadn’t arrived — the £26 seafood platter — which was barely cooked. The prawns were almost raw and the calamari was both soft and tough. Other dishes were fine, but nothing stood out enough to make up for the issues. Even simple requests like ketchup and mayo were met with sighs from staff.
We were told we’d receive a complimentary dessert as it was my birthday. Other tables were sung to by staff, but when my dessert arrived it was simply placed in front of me without a word — no acknowledgement at all.
The final bill came to £215 for 7 people (starters, mains and two bottles of wine). Given the service throughout, we removed the service charge. When paying and leaving, there was no thank you or basic politeness from staff.
Overall, this experience put a real dampener on my birthday. We felt disregarded throughout the evening, and it was hard to escape the feeling that we were treated differently because we were younger than many of the other diners. Very disappointing, and not somewhere I would return to or recommend.
