If you’re looking for a great lunch or dinner spot where you can get dynamite food, the right kind of casual but nice atmosphere. This is it. This place never disappoints. I took a group here for dinner. We enjoyed salad’s burgers steak and even splurged on dessert. All of it was delicious. The service was a 10 out of 10 always like the atmosphere here.

My new favorite spot for dinner! Chef Jeremy’s Fresh-to-Order approach, refreshing and exciting menus, and meticulous presetations created an exceptional experience for us.
We sat at the counter and had the privilege to watch this incredibly cohesive team of kitchen and front of house staff move effortlessly through their respective spaces. We saw smiles, respect for each other, and professionalism at every turn. Service was outstanding. We could see the genuine love and care each person put into making the food and delivering beautiful dishes to excite the senses. The freshness of the ingredients and the balance of flavors led us to say outloud, “yum!” and, “this is so good!” more than once.
The kitchen was spotless and kept that way throughout our meal. We tried 2 different appetizers (we couldn’t choose!), and my husband had salmon while I had the melt-in-your mouth Hanger steak. We also had the pleasure of tasting the soup of the day (black bean), which was velvety, luscious, and, of course, delicious.
We can’t wait to come back. If you are looking for great food or a place to host a special occasion, this is it!

Do not leave Portland without checking this place out. The food was delicious, well seasoned and visually pleasing. We had the ravioli ,the tavern burguer and for dessert the chocolate mousse. All the dishes prepared to perfection and paired with a good red and a cold brew for me. The place looks fantastic and the service was prompt, attentive and very chill. We will back next time we are in town. I highly recommend this location.

This was our second visit to Tavern on Kruse and the food was once again phenomenal. The patio is really lovely, especially the area around the front, and it was very quiet and serene for our brunch. Both of the benedicts (crab/steak and smoked ham) we ordered were fantastic – this place nails the hollandaise – and the chef’s bowl with pork belly was a winner. The portions are good for the price as well. Our service was a little less attentive than we’d have liked this time, but I still absolutely recommend it for the exceptional food and relaxing environment.

My husband and I have really liked this restaurant for a few years but we haven’t been in a while. We went last night and the service was great but the food was disappointing. My husband’s hanger steak ($32) was more than charred. It was burnt. Also, as I was eating my Ahi tuna burger I ended up with a mouthful of gristle (sinew). It wasn’t too appetizing to me after that. We wanted to complain but we had an appointment to get to afterwards. I’m sad to say we won’t be back.

The patio on a summer evening is lovely! It also adds a lot more seating, although you should still need to get a reservation. The service is good. The menu changes with the seasons. I love to try seasonal specialties. I love gazpacho and it was fun to try a new variety with melons and avocados, although I would have liked it spicier. The presentation of the pork chop was beautiful and it was very tender. The cocktails are also good! I have consistently enjoyed my meals and this time I also enjoyed the jazz band playing music in the background.
