Overall, I enjoyed it here. The best part is the service, lovely people who are clearly invested in creating a good experience. But unfortunately my family’s experience was a teeny bit disappointing. There was a mistake with the menus (one had slightly different offerings and no printed upcharges, making us confused), a server switch, and a dietary preference was forgotten. These aren’t too big of deals but altogether left us feeling a little wonky. The food was fine but not stellar. Some dishes were quite salty, and I noticed that some components were repeated a ton (mostly the king oyster mushrooms). Again, not a big deal but makes me raise my eyebrow. The dishes were beautiful though, I loved that I could see into the kitchen and the building’s ceiling is high and makes it feel roomy. And I left with a smile and a full stomach so I can’t complain too much >w<

I had trouble finding the entrance (it is in the front of the building). We came here for a birthday. It was really cold for many parts of the dinner and I was not super comfortable. The food was amazing. For the amount I paid, however, it was not comparable to some of the other dining experiences I have had in DC/ Baltimore. I ordered the wine tasting and it was forgotten, server was on his own so the busser had to bring out dishes and did not explain what they were. Server was extremely knowledgeable and all the staff were great. It just got a little busy for a bit.

I went here for restaurant week and was not disappointed, despite the typical drop in service and quality. Everything was amazing, especially the desserts! I also love the atmosphere in here. The earthy, industrial vibes were fantastic.
I don’t remember everything we ordered and the most memorable part of the meal was how expansive the offerings were. Everything from the bread, to the sashimi, the chicken, and the dessert, were unbelievable.
The menu will certainly change by the time you try them, but you definitely should. I can’t wait to go back!

First of all. The atmosphere is amazing! Very well moderated interior design. The drink was great, our service was excellent and absolutely amazing. But we had to be honest, we were slightly disappointed with the food quality. They were not bad, but also not great. I would say they were not well balanced between the spices. We did the 4- courses tasting menu. the tuna sashimi was a bit overly soaked in the sauce, a bit too salty too. The pasta was super sour, it hit really hard and you can barely taste anything else. The Lamb loins were over spiced with the rosemary, if you enjoyed very much then it would be great, if not that’ll be another case. The foam with veggies dish was my top recommendation. Overall, the experience was good, but I was not impressed by the food.

We loved Gravitas. The food was delicious, from the bread to dessert. Dishes were plated beautifully and our waiters explained each dish to us. Great creativity translated to delicious food. The sear on the Salmon was perfect.

I hate to sound generic, but the food is simply amazing. They have a delicious and thoughtful seasonal menu, which was complemented beautifully by their beverage pairings (and cocktail menu)! Limon and Matt were both incredibly warm, knowledgeable, and hospitable, and they made the experience so wonderful for us, so much so that I felt the need to write a review right away! If you have half the experience we had, you’re in for a treat 🙂

First let me start with the ambience, walking in you get a very warm homely feeling, staff is generous and greeting with smiles, the open kitchen brings comfort. The drinks are just amazingly mixed to perfection and strong! The menu items are explained eloquently and with precise detail of the combinations. When the 1st course came out it was a display of art, then the taste comes and its like fireworks go off in your mouth as the different flavors cross your palette perfectly! The main dish (Wagyu) was tender and paired well with its sidekicks! The 3rd course (Pasta) was lemony fresh and had the perfect texture, by this time i was full but the 4th course (a Strawberry Dessert ) was just amazing to the point where i still indulged and cleaned the plate! You leave this place thinking it was more of an experience more so than a dinner outing! The rooftop for a nightcap was breathtaking and romantic! Definitely will be returning over and over again! Gravitas is seriously enjoyable!

My husband and I loved our experience at Gravitas. We enjoyed the 4 course tasting with Virginia Linden Chardonnay. Matt and Payton’s service was delightful and attentive. The atmosphere is warm and inviting.

Moderately disappointed by the food. Kitchen felt dysfunctional because every dish came out lukewarm as if they had been sitting for a good 20 minutes before being served. It’s especially bad for the foie gras and the pasta because without the right temperature they just taste like greasy mess. And the whole meal took 3 hours which averaged out to 25 min wait time per dish. With just 3-4 tables of guests the entire night, the restaurant wasn’t even busy. The palate cleanser took 30 minutes to serve, and it was just one scoop of sorbet. Surely it doesn’t take that long to scoop the sorbet? The branzino was decent. Skin was perfectly crispy and the rice stuffed squash was delicious. I was surprised by how bad the strawberry dessert turned out. The super sour lemon jelly ruined it for me. And the corn bread was very bland and didn’t work.

Went on a Sunday night so it was not busy at all. Only 1 other table. We did the tasting menu. It was average. Not the best neighbourhood. The host offered to escort us outside to our car across the street.
