The dining experience was wonderful. Food and quality was top-top tier. This location is the definition of something you want from a “hole-in-the-wall” or “mom-and-pop-shop”. Overall a diamond in this neighborhood, and I guarantee you won’t be let down by the staff here Ensure you try their fresh bread!!!

It was a wonderful experience! It felt like I was in a Kafeana in Skopje or Belgrade again! The atmosphere is great, the food is superb and Dragana was wonderful! The portions are huuuge and when you consider the quality it is more than worth it. I brought friends who aren’t very familiar with Serbian or Balkan culture/food and they loved it! Dragana spoke to us in Serbian and I always love an opportunity to practice my Serbian/Macedonian, and even my friends who don’t know Serbian had a good time with Dragana too! Highly recommend and will be sure to come back.

It was a fantastic, authentic experience. The woman who served us only speaks Serbian, so there’s a language barrier if you’re English speaking only, but pointing to the picture menu overcame that. The portions are huge, be prepared. Prices are fair. The pita bread and kashmak were delicious, as was the cucumber/tomato salad as appetizers.

You should go.

The staff was very welcoming. They don’t know a lot of English but the waitress will help you order what is good. Food was excellent, huge portions. Service could have been more attentive.

Always a great meal made fresh to order. I like to try different dishes each time and I’m always happy. Huge portions as well. Everyone needs to try this place

Great food! It’s your typical hole in the wall food place with ridiculously good food. The portions are unreasonably large, you will definitely have a lot of leftovers.

I have been eating at Dunav for over a decade. The quality has never wavered. Solid well-seasoned Serbian food. The Civapi may be the best in the city. This is a hidden gem in the near Western suburbs. Don’t let the nondescript exterior fool you. Serbian food is a singular and a treat. Go hungry. The portions are generous.

We had the great luck of finding a new favorite tonight — Dunav Restaurant on Ogden. The mixed grill and muckalica we ordered were both incredible. If you go, don’t forget to get a side of the grilled vegetables (mixed peppers and mushrooms — I’m helpless for these grilled mushrooms!). The lepinja (bread) is fantastic with the cream cheese. You’ll also appreciate how friendly the staff (Thanks again, Dragana!) and the other customers are, even if you’re the only person in the room who doesn’t speak Serbian! We can’t wait to come back. Perhaps one day I’ll know enough Serbian to sing along!
