Well this is a surprise: I had the best buffalo chicken wrap of my life. Fresh, crisp lettuce, perfectly sauced chicken, the right amount of shredded cheddar cheese, and I exchanged ranch for Bleu cheese dressing, which was on the side. If unwrapping it wouldn’t have been unseemly, I’d have shown you inside. I opted for sweet potato fries, but took most of them home because I enjoyed the wrap so much! My other party had the whisky burger and regular fries, and he was happy too. Our server was attentive and quite friendly, and that’s awesome because she had the bar and other tables to help. I’ve been to Whiskey River before, but this visit was a standout. Thank you for making my day!

I ordered the Philly cheesesteak, and let me tell you, this is a *proper* Philly cheesesteak! The bread was moist yet crispy. The meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The peppers and onions were fully cooked, delicious, and just the right texture. The cheese was melted and mixed fantastically into the sandwich, blending it all together, creating the perfect pocket of gooey deliciousness. If you want a Philly, this is the place to come!

I really love the vibe of this place on the first visit, and all of the staff were very friendly and made me feel welcome. I will certainly be returning here regularly.

After ignoring friend’s complaints and claims of food sickness I experienced it for myself. Place has a stench that no one has fixed in the time I’ve tried to support them. The service has fallen even before they changed management. Is now worse. Can’t keep help. Prices keep rising. It is sad to see it falling again. They are riding their previous reputation. We’ll see how long it lasts.

We did not eat. Stopped for drinks before Cyclone game. We stopped and other bars across the street also. This place beat both of those. Great drink and a good price! This will be our go to place before a game.

As a truck driver I can’t stop at many places but I was insanely surprised by this bar. Was welcomed in by the sweetest bartenders and treated like a local even though I’m from across the country. Fantastic food, drinks and atmosphere. Not to mention the BRA MOOSE

Sitting at bar for 5 mins. Only a few people at bar. Girl with long dark hair just wanted to twirl her hair instead of waiting on customer’s. Served local didn’t care about others. Never go back.

Whiskey River: lots of bombs & shots. I wish they had a Vicks Formula 44! Went for appetizers only: GF crinkle-cut sweet potato fries were really good–substantial serving size and hefty planks. (I’ve never had issue with fryer cross contamination). So many menus–look at these b4 heading in. We scored a high top table by the open air side.

Cheep as hell on their portion size. For 13 dollars I got a turkey melt and less an ounce of potatoe chips. Don’t waste your money at Whiskey River in Ames.

The food was delicious, but unfortunately that was about all that was exemplary about this place. We saw the waitress maybe twice during our hour here, which was odd because it was a Sunday afternoon and the place was mostly empty. Beverages weren’t refilled. One of the orders was incorrect…but we weren’t able to get it mended since the waitress was nowhere to be seen. The beer and mixed drinks are a bit pricey for what you get. I know it’s a bar serving a college crowd, but if you are going to be open on a Sunday afternoon and advertise brunch specials (bloody mary bar) you should really be prepared to offer brunch-level service.
