Cozy comfortable booth seating, but when I was first walking in I was nervous about the food being any good because of the tacky big poster of food-display at entrance- seemed to cheapen the place. And they serve on paper plates with plastic utensils inside plastic sealed bags (like you get at airport!). BUT the food was fabulous! Me and my friend don’t eat meat but I had the Mediterranean plate and my friend had the Falafel plate – both fabulous! Falafel delicious and not dry like so many! I do suggest they should upgrade a tiny bit to wooden compostable/recycle utensils though.

We have had take out from Mazmez several times and have loved their versions of staple dishes. The proteins have been perfectly cooked, tender, juicy. Then they put in extra effort and details with sides, salads and dips. Feel like quality is well above normal quick service food.

The food was below average. We ordered Chicken Shawarma plate, Chicken shawarma salad, Chicken Shawarma wrap and Beef Kefta wrap. Kefta Kebaba wrap was good. Chicken was so blank and tasted like boiled chicken served over rice, salad and wrap.

I tried it for the first time and the food is very good and tasty. I was surprised that they only offered one sauce with the entree and I generally use 2 or 3 different sauces and often blend them together because I like it spicy with tahini. Other restaurants I’ve been to have not charged for that. I tried the falafel and it’s different from the other popular restaurant on Dempster and I must say it’s better than theirs. I also ordered the beef shawarma and it was juicy and tender. You do order at the counter but they bring it to your table. I prefer eating with regular plates and silverware especially with so much microplastics we already encounter, but I would come back but more likely for carry out. The restaurant has been remodeled and is very clean and modern. I think it was previously a pizzeria.

Dips were tasty. But the shawarma was fake, a lie. It should be stacked in layers on a vertical rotisserie, slowly roasted, and shaved off in thin slices. Instead, it was just cooked on flat grill or in a pan. It had none of the flavors that one expects with shawarma and was much too dry. I tried both the chicken and beef versions and was totally disappointed by both. What a disappointment.

Came here with my daughter on a Friday. It was not very crowded but they did have lots of carryouts. The staff was very friendly, the portions were huge (we had leftovers) and the food was delicious. My daughter had the vegetarian plate and I had the beef keftka plate. Mine was very flavorful. We will be back to try some of their other options. DON’T FORGET, BYOB!!!

Delicious! I ordered hummus, falafel, and their homemade baklava. All were excellent. The hummus came with warm, fresh pita bread. I think they might make the best falafel I’ve ever had. Great addition to Wilmette! I ordered at the counter and took my lunch to-go. There are booths to enjoy eating in the restaurant, too.

The food here is excellent! We ordered the lamb kebab wrap and the vegetarian platter and it all tasted great. The lamb had that wonderfully freshly seared taste and was not overly gamey. The vegetarian platter had freshly fried falafel, warm grape leaves, and a very fresh salad. The food took a while to come out which worried me at first, but it makes sense because of how fresh things are prepared. 10/10 would come back here
