My wife and I come here whenever we’re craving truly authentic Mexican food, the kind you’d find in Mexico City or Oaxaca. We usually split the Tacos de Tinga to start, then go for Mole con Pollo, Enchiladas, and/or Pozole Verde. We’ve tried plenty of other dishes, but these are the ones we always come back to. They are amazing!

Decided to give this corner eatery a try for a quick lunch pit stop. Lunch in my book is quick sit, refuel and go concept unless I’m on vacation.
I like the interior of the place. Very charming and inviting. I grabbed a table and ordered two tacos. One fish and one shrimp, some chips and salsa and that was it. I can really comment on the chips, you can equal or better in any taqueria, the salsa was alright but certainly not a home made version. The tacos, mmmm for my taste the fish was over fried and so was the shrimp. Nice presentation but average in taste and flavor. Oh well maybe I have to see if dinner fare pans out better.

The green mole with pork was absolutely stunning. I love moles and Mexican food in general and this was one of the best. The handmade corn tortillas are excellent.
Wait staff was very helpful and accommodating, and it did not take long to get the food once our large party had ordered. They also have very high quality tequilas, and use G4 tequila for their margaritas, which is impressive.
Definitely going there again.

Excellent food and the best mole I’ve had in SF. Loved the sweetness of the mole rojo and the chicken was perfectly cooked. Started with an absolutely delicious carnitas taco.

Definitely stop here for an incredible meal with an extremely friendly and helpful team.

We are lucky this place is just a short walk from our house. It’s as good as it gets. Mole and chile relleno are my favorites but never had a bad bite. This place deserves all the recognition it gets. Consistently great every time we go.

I was walking to this place and wanted to eat there but it was near closing time. I was reading some reviews while walking for tips. Some people say they make great mole, so I walked faster because I love mole. I have been constantly disappointed with some mole experiences around here, so I was keen on trying this one.

I got the chicken with red mole to go. I used their restroom and when I finished, my order was just ready. As expected from an efficient, no-frill Mexican kitchen. That was a positive sign.

Got home after about 3 hours. Took a bite from the now-cold mole and, wow, this is exactly what I was looking for. A complex, well-balanced mole (not that easy to find). It was kinda addictive and I finished half of my dish cold. The chicken was fine and not very tender and the tortilla was ok, but as a whole, it was a very satisfying dish, especially when you mix a little bit of black beans with the mole and chicken and eat it with the tortilla. Buen comer, indeed.

We had the Torta Mexican Sandwich-Milanesa de Res, Tacos Dorados, Enchiladas Rojas and Sopes.

Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience at El Buen Comer. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Mexican meal.

Chili relleno, tacos dorados, pork rib with green sauce and pozole. Got an order of nopales with chips. Sauce on all the entrees tasted good. The pozole also tasted fine. Disappointed by the chili relleno inside. The cheese inside were chunks that weren’t melted. I wasn’t sure if maybe that’s how they make it here?
